It’s not an exaggeration to express that numerous speculations about Nintendo Switch’s upcoming model are circulating. These speculations span from alleged Joycon images and rumored events in May, to a mock-up of the console at CES 2025 by an accessory manufacturer, based on leaks. However, for every leak that might be genuine, many others appear to be false.

View Urgent ForecastApart from mentioning that the latest model is unofficial, Nintendo hasn’t said much about anything related to it. Nevertheless, Kit Ellis, a former co-host of Nintendo Minute and ex-director of social media marketing and original content at Nintendo of America, shared some information on the topic.
In a recent Patreon video (transcribed by GamesRadar), Ellis highlighted Nintendo’s emphasis on long-term strategies instead of immediate opportunities. The shift in Nintendo’s release schedule for the Switch, which appears to be a response to current short-term events, underscores this focus on short-term occurrences rather than long-term planning.
“A relevant question to consider is whether the current events are likely to negatively impact the next seven years (or the lifespan of) the Switch 2. After careful examination, I believe that the answer is no.”
I’m really feeling for them at the moment as they’re going through some tough times. It’s a bit uneasy right now, but once they make their announcement and start showing their games, watch out! They’re about to take off like a rocket. They’re sharing all sorts of info…Most of this will be history soon.
Ellis also mentioned that there hasn’t been any console leak for the games yet, which is undeniably “the key factor.” In other words, if we disregard the whispers about titles like Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Final Fantasy 7 Remake/Rebirth potentially coming to their console.
Nintendo has confirmed on two occasions that their Switch successor will be unveiled no later than March 31st, 2025. Keep an eye out for any future announcements about this exciting development!
