Working at Larian Has Been “An Incredible Journey So Far” – CEO

As a diehard fan, I can’t help but reminisce about the incredible journey behind Baldur’s Gate 3, a tale that’s close to my heart. Recently, a fan-made documentary sparked these memories, sharing the inspiring story of how Larian Studios managed to rise above bankruptcy and eventually taste mainstream success, all thanks to the launch of Baldur’s Gate 3. Truly an amazing saga!

Previously, Larian Studios was well-known for their RPG creations such as Divinity: Original Sin and its sequel. However, they resorted to crowdfunding to finance their earlier titles. In contrast, when they set out to develop Baldur’s Gate 3, they already had a few critically acclaimed RPGs in their portfolio. This time, they approached Wizards of the Coast, the current owners of Dungeons & Dragons, for collaboration.

Through his recent post about X, Vincke seems to be suggesting that Larian Studios might still have more work on Baldur’s Gate 3 in store. Given that they are currently working on several Role-Playing Games, it appears that their next project will likely aim to capitalize on the success achieved with Baldur’s Gate 3.

Vincke expressed on X that this journey has been truly remarkable so far and he’s excited for what’s to come, hoping to avoid a potential challenging period.

It’s important to mention that the two role-playing games currently being worked on by Larian Studios are not continuations of Baldur’s Gate 3. Instead, they stem from the studio’s original intellectual property and have no connection to Dungeons & Dragons. This revelation was made by the studio in 2024, with them clarifying that there will be no further narrative additions to Baldur’s Gate 3, and that their next game will not be Baldur’s Gate 4.

Last year, Larian Studios established a new development center in Warsaw, Poland, to aid in creating their upcoming game titles. In making this announcement, Larian expressed their intention to tap into as much local talent as possible to bring to life the imaginative worlds depicted in their two ambitious role-playing games.
