One Piece Is Now In the Most Boring Phase In Its History

The popular series “One Piece” – both its manga and anime adaptations – are currently on a break for different reasons. The show’s Final Saga is a significant undertaking, while the manga has just started the Elbaf Arc, and the anime remains in the Egghead Island Arc. Luffy and his crew will encounter threats larger than CP0, potentially putting Vegapunk’s life at risk. They are already making plans to head to Elbaf, and the manga is gearing up for a fresh adventure. Besides holidays, creator Eiichiro Oda has also had some health-related pauses and is involved in the production of Netflix’s “One Piece” live-action Season 2.

In the role as Show Executive Director, Oda found himself occupied during the making of the first season, with the manga taking multiple breaks due to the challenge of maintaining a weekly schedule. While filming the second season, he made a trip to Cape Town where he interacted with the main actors – a first-time experience for him on an OPLA set, causing his schedule to seem busier than ever. The extended manga pauses and anime break created a rather uneventful phase in the timeline of One Piece.

One Piece’s Elbaf Arc Is Off to a Slow Start

Fans have been eagerly anticipating the Elbaf Arc since it was first hinted at during the Little Garden Arc of the One Piece series. After a wait spanning over two decades, this manga storyline finally leads the Straw Hat crew to the land of giants. The arc starts in Chapter 1126 where the group momentarily splits up. Impersonating the Sun God, Road holds Luffy and some other members captive. However, they don’t stay imprisoned for long as they quickly break free. In Chapter 1130, a new character named Prince Loki makes his appearance.

The chapter was published on October 20th, 2025, followed by a three-week break. It’s now been three months since we got a good look at the Prince of Elbaf, yet only Chapter 1135 has been released in the One Piece manga. According to well-known One Piece analyst @newworldartur, this is the longest break period in the series history, as the manga has never had this many breaks over a three-month span before.

One Piece’s Anime Is Set to Return in April

Although the manga occasionally pauses its progression, the anime has been absent since October 2024. During this time, Toei Animation has refined a remastered version of the Fish-Man Island Saga, but work on the Egghead Arc remains postponed. The anime is expected to resume in April 2025 and complete the arc this year. Toei decided to take this break to preserve the quality of the anime and prevent it from outpacing the manga’s narrative.

In contrast to its past, “One Piece” has been criticized for moving slowly, often covering just one or even fewer chapters per episode. Yet, fans anticipate improvements in pace following its comeback because the manga has gained significant ground during the break. The second season of “One Piece” is slated to premiere in the latter part of 2021, making this an exhilarating year for One Piece Landmark Association (OPLA) enthusiasts. Regarding the remake by WIT Studio, there’s been no new news as of yet; however, updates are likely to come forth this year.
