In the upcoming season 1 of Fortnite Chapter 6, slated for 2025, expect the game’s largest update, featuring the iconic monster ruler, Godzilla, who will bring destruction and turmoil to Battle Royale Island.
Initially hinted at back in December, and even alluded to in several leaks, the colossal city-wrecking entity is now officially set free.
In addition to this, during the latest season of the Fortnite Festival, a digital pop sensation will take center stage. Also new is a streamlined Music Pass tailored specifically for that game mode.
Without a doubt, we’ll be making some changes, which will require us to briefly take our servers offline. The specifics, including the exact timing and other details, will be communicated to you soon after this announcement.
Fortunately, the much-anticipated update for Fortnite will be going live shortly, leaving us just a few hours to countdown. Here’s what we currently know regarding the upcoming changes.
What changes in the Fortnite update today (14th January)?
Prepare to ROOOAAARRR!
— Fortnite (@FortniteGame) January 13, 2025
The biggest change in Fortnite will be the introduction of the lizard king, Godzilla.
In a brief teaser released by Epic Games, it seems the massive creature, known as the Kaiju, will roam across the Battle Royale map. Players may choose to flee or attempt to defeat this colossal beast instead.
It’s likely to follow a similar pattern to the Doctor Doom boss that appeared in October 2024.
On January 17th, 2025, we anticipate adding a Godzilla-themed skin to our Item Shop. This new skin is tied to the ongoing battle pass and will feature a scaled-down design inspired by recent blockbuster movies about this legendary creature.
It’s been buzzing that there might be a King Kong character skin or collaboration between Titans appearing in Fortnite.
According to Fortnite insider ShinnaBR (through source X), it appears that a partnership with Kong is in development. The teaser text also hints at the ape, while a vehicle decal clearly displays the word “Kong” on it.
At the time of writing, Epic has not officially confirmed any King Kong appearance.

In relation to the upcoming Fortnite Festival, it has been announced that the virtual pop star from Japan, Hatsune Miku, will be the representative figure for Season 7.
In an updated Music Pass, various artist-themed covers will be provided, accompanied by both free and paid music selections.
Four additional modes will be incorporated into the Battle Stage: Lead Instruments Only, Percussion Only, Vocal-focused Only, and Bass-centric Only.
Additionally, the Fortnite Festival can now be played in local multiplayer mode on PlayStation and Xbox, allowing for some good old-fashioned, side-by-side gaming similar to Guitar Hero from days past.
