Kate Middleton made a very special surprise engagement.
As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but share that it was me, the awestruck fan, who embarked on my very first royal excursion of this year, following in the footsteps of the remarkable Princess of Wales. This extraordinary journey led me to the hallowed grounds of the Royal Marsden Hospital, a place where our beloved princess received her courageous battle against cancer last year.
While on a visit, the 43-year-old monarch graciously expressed gratitude to the hospital team in person and spent moments conversing with patients who were undergoing treatments.
According to a statement made by Kensington Palace to The Independent on January 14, the princess wished to embark on this journey not only as a token of her gratitude towards the exceptional team, but also to underscore the top-tier care and treatment offered by the Marsden.
In a beautiful burgundy gown, Kate joined patients for a conversation with a team of medical professionals. To make her visit more memorable, she also paused to say hello to the working service dog present at the site.
Kate’s individual trip was accompanied by the news that she would be partnering with her spouse, Prince William, in their roles as patrons for the medical center. In this capacity, they will both serve as advocates for cancer research, treatment developments, and patient care.
The visit is taking place before the commemoration of the abdominal surgery that the mother of three, who are George (age 10), Charlotte (age 9), and Louis (age 6) with William, had performed on January 16th in a hospital.
Two months following her stay at the Royal Marsden Hospital for surgery recovery, Kate announced that she had been secretly diagnosed with a type of cancer. Kate’s most recent public appearance took place over the festive period, as she joined the royal family – which included King Charles III, who was also dealing with a cancer diagnosis at that time – for the traditional Christmas Day church service.
Regarding William, he began the year 2025 by offering a heartfelt and uncommon tribute on his wife’s birthday, acknowledging her remarkable resilience.
In a touching tribute, the 42-year-old penned: “To my extraordinary wife and mother,” writing this alongside an unprecedented photo of Kate on January 9th. “The resilience you’ve displayed in the past year has been truly inspiring. George, Charlotte, Louis, and I are incredibly proud of you. Wishing you a joyful Birthday, Catherine. We adore you.” – W.
