The most recent episode of EastEnders paid an outstanding homage to the late, esteemed Peggy Mitchell and the legendary actress Dame Barbara Windsor.
Prior to the mentioned incident, Nicola Mitchell, portrayed by Laura Doddington, found it difficult to leave her past with ex-husband Teddy (Roland Manookian) behind.
However, it turned out to be quite refreshing as she spotted Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) running through the Square at that moment.
Later on, Nicola found herself listening in as Denise Fox (previously known as Diane Parish) advised Jack that it was crucial to keep clear boundaries in their shared parenting role, given their recent divorce.
At a later time, within the confines of Harry’s Barn, previously named Peggy’s, Nicola found herself intervening in a disturbance. A man had inappropriately touched Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams), and Jack attempted to handle the situation, but ended up getting hit instead!

In classic Mitchell fashion, Nicola picked up a crowbar and demanded that the man and his companions depart, leaving us with an uncanny recollection of the legendary Peggy’s indelible saying.
“Oi! Get out of my club, now!” she bellowed, sorting the situation within seconds.
After checking on Chelsea, Nicola invited Jack to get cleaned up in her office.
Feeling spurned by Denise, Jack found solace in Nicola’s affection; and as their playful banter escalated, they succumbed to their desires and shared a passionate kiss.
As a devoted cinema enthusiast, what truly left an indelible mark for me was Nicola’s exceptional portrayal of Peggy, even though she might not have realized just how close her rendition came to the iconic “Get out of my pub!” line that echoed so frequently at The Queen Vic.
Is Nicola set to one day head up the Mitchells – at least on the female side of the clan?
