Great British Menu confirms start date for 2025 season – with new judge

The renowned TV show, Great British Menu, is all set to commence its hunt for budding culinary stars, as they officially unveil the air date for their 2025 season right now.

This time, the show will once again feature comedian Ed Gamble as host, along with chefs Andi Oliver and Tom Kerridge. A fresh face is set to join the team for this season.

Originally victorious Scottish chef Lorna McNee from the year 2018’s Great British Menu competition, is making her comeback to the series this time as a judge. This move comes after Nisha Katona decided to part ways with the program following a three-year tenure.

You’ll have the chance to watch how McNee performs when Great British Menu comes back on BBC Two and iPlayer at 8 PM on January 28th, 2025.

In this upcoming season, the chefs are tasked with crafting dishes that honor notable personalities from their respective regions within Great Britain, by weaving their stories and heritage into their culinary creations.

After signing up for the show, McNee expressed: “Winning Great British Menu in 2018 significantly boosted my career as a chef and played a role in my promotion to Chef Director at Cail Bruich. This experience has made me fully aware of how significant this competition is for chefs across Britain.

This year’s invitation to be part of the judging panel came as a complete shock yet brought immense joy, and I’m thoroughly enjoying the opportunity to assist in selecting this year’s banquet finalists.

Tom, Ed, and Andi have really made me feel at home, and I’m additionally getting to know some truly remarkable guest judges each week. These judges are all here to assist us in selecting dishes that represent various regions, aligning with this year’s theme of British Heroes.

Oliver noted: “It’s a great honor and still a significant privilege for me to guide Britain’s leading chefs as they compete on Great British Menu, and it’s astounding to realize that this series has been running for 20 years now.

Our competition aims to offer a stage for emerging culinary talents across Britain, with hopes to continue doing so for numerous years in the future.

It’s truly exciting this year to have Lorna McNee, a past winner of our competition and an impressive figure from Scotland, serving as a judge among us. Spectators can look forward to quite the show as the chefs have devised remarkable concepts based on this year’s theme!

It’s thrilling to witness the number of individuals who have identified unsung local heroes, allowing us to honor and acknowledge their contributions.
