51 Studios, known as Developer The Farm, has initiated a Kickstarter campaign to assist in the creation of the sequel to their survival horror RPG, Chernobylite. Named Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone, this upcoming game will introduce numerous new elements, such as the incorporation of a first-person perspective.
The studio chose Kickstarter as a funding method for the game’s development because they highly valued player input and saw it as crucial to offer the option of switching between first-person and third-person camera views.
Originally, the creators intended to shape Chernobylite 2 into a role-playing game (RPG) rather than a first-person shooter, deviating significantly from its precursor’s style.
The explanation provided by the studio for why Chernobylite isn’t available yet is straightforward: Initially, they chose to emphasize role-playing game (RPG) mechanics and steer clear of being frequently compared to first-person shooters, as Chernobylite doesn’t fall under that category.
As a fellow enthusiast, I’m excitedly inviting you to be part of our thrilling Kickstarter journey! We’re aiming to bring a First-Person Perspective (FPP) combat system into reality, a feature many of us have been eagerly anticipating. By pledging your support, you’ll help us shoulder the extra costs associated with this additional work, and more importantly, provide valuable feedback on the new feature during its development phase. Together, we can shape this game before it reaches the gaming community at large!
To encourage more player input, individuals who back the game through Kickstarter will additionally gain early access to the game’s closed beta and Early Access versions prior to its official launch on Steam.
As an enthusiast, I’m thrilled about the upcoming addition in Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone – the implementation of planewalking! This fascinating feature enables me, as a player, to dynamically adjust my character’s abilities and gear at will. This means I can tackle a broader spectrum of challenges and be ready for an array of situations that a single build wouldn’t accommodate.
In addition to gameplay, players can expect base construction, management, and task assignment for inhabitants. Interacting with multiple factions is also part of the experience, and the outcomes could lead to potential conflicts based on player interactions and responses.
It’s worth noting that Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone is set to incorporate a type of cooperative multiplayer mode. At present, specifics about this feature are still under wraps, but the game’s solo campaign will offer cooperative missions as well.
Through their Kickstarter initiative, The Farm 51 has established a fundraising target of $97,741. As I write this, the campaign is almost at its goal, having raised $73,728 from 872 supporters. There are still 28 days remaining in the Kickstarter campaign.
The sequel to Chernobylite, titled “Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone,” does not currently have a specific launch date beyond the year 2025. Development is ongoing for both PC and console platforms.
