According to a recent update, NVIDIA is developing novel CPUs, stirring anticipation among consumers. If this information holds true, both Intel and Qualcomm could be facing a fresh competitor in the market for PC CPUs. This latest scoop originates from HaYaO, who has shared details about X, while Tom’s Hardware offers additional insights on the story.
As an analyst, I’m excited to share some upcoming news about NVIDIA processors. The highly anticipated N1X is expected to hit markets before the end of this year, while we can expect the N1 to arrive in 2026. According to HaYaO’s latest reports, approximately 3 million N1X chips will be shipped in Q4 2025, and around 13 million N1 processors are set to follow within the next year.
As a tech enthusiast myself, I’m thrilled about the potential collaboration between NVIDIA and MediaTek on chip development. If this partnership materializes, it could prove to be a significant financial boost for MediaTek, with projected revenues of approximately $2 billion!
Information about the N1X and N1 chips is limited, however, it’s possible that these chips are adopting a similar approach as Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite and Snapdragon X Plus, where one of them could be a more potent version.
As an analyst, I can share that NVIDIA has already established ARM-based System on Chips (SoCs) in the server market. Their Tegra processors, which power various gaming and media devices, are also ARM-based. However, the upcoming N1X and N1 will mark a significant shift for the company, as they will be the first ARM-based chips designed specifically for Windows PCs – or more accurately, Windows devices that run a full version of the operating system. It’s worth noting that the Surface RT, unfortunately, was an example of a device running on a Tegra chip but using a different version of Windows.
Speculations about NVIDIA developing ARM processors have been circulating for quite some time now. As far back as 2023, we explored the idea that NVIDIA might be venturing into ARM CPU production. The latest whispers on this topic seem to revolve around the same chips, as they were previously hinted at a 2025 release date for these processors.
Over the last couple of years, I’ve witnessed significant advancements in the Windows on ARM platform. These improvements are largely due to updates in Windows 11, app developers embracing the platform, and Qualcomm launching its Snapdragon X processors. By 2025, it might just be the perfect moment for NVIDIA to introduce ARM CPUs, given that Windows on ARM seems to have reached its prime-time.
