Since their initial battle from the planet Cybertron reached Earth in the 1980s, the Transformers have invaded various platforms. Recently, they’ve launched live-action and animated films such as “Transformers: Rise of The Beasts” and “Transformers One” on the big screen, while continuing to air animated series featuring characters like Optimus Prime and Megatron. A fresh statue of Optimus Prime is now available, offering a unique portrayal that’s quite different from his traditional appearance. Previous statues have often depicted Cybertronians in anime-style girl forms, and it seems the time has come for Optimus to adopt another “cute” persona yet again.
Despite numerous animated series based on Transformers, there are fewer representations of the warring robots in the anime genre. Over the years, a few instances showcased original tales of the Autobots and Decepticons in Japan, but one standout example of a Transformers anime was a single video production. To mark the 40th anniversary of the franchise, renowned Studio TRIGGER produced a unique video that brought the franchise’s main characters to life using their dynamic style. Although no Transformers anime has been officially announced for the future, the series remains an ideal candidate for an anime adaptation.
Optimus Prime Like Never Before
It’s not the first time that Optimus Prime has undergone such a dramatic transformation as an Anime Girl hybrid. Previously, companies like Kotobukiya have created statues featuring radical overhauls of characters like Optimus, Megatron, Starscream, and Ironhide. In this particular instance, a renowned anime creator has collaborated with the statue makers to redesign Optimus Prime in this extraordinary fusion.
Humikane Shimada is well-known for designing characters in numerous anime series. If the name seems familiar but you’re unsure of their past projects, here’s a reminder: Shimada has contributed to series such as Brave Witches, Girls und Panzer, Gundam Build Divers, Sakura Wars, and Strike Witches, among others. Now, the artist is eager to showcase their skills in the world of Cybertron. The figure will likely cost around $80, and Kotobukiya has unveiled a sneak peek at the fusion figure set to arrive this summer. You can take a look below.
In 2024, as Transformers marks its 40th anniversary, the Autobot Leader Optimus Prime is set to debut in Kotobukiya’s plastic model kit series, inspired by a fresh original artwork by Humikane Shimada!

Transformers One: The Animated Movie That Might Not Continue
Although Transformers: One received widespread praise from both critics and enthusiasts, Paramount has remained silent about the sequel story focusing on Optimus Prime and Megatron’s early days. Fortunately, the Transformers are set to reappear in the live-action realm as the studio works on a shared film where Cybertron’s elite will interact with the heroes and villains from the G.I. Joe universe. As of now, no release date has been announced for this crossover event; however, it was previously speculated that Chris Hemsworth could assume the leading part.
