The Marvel Netflix Universe marked a significant leap forward for comic book television, offering viewers a raw, intense, and mature portrayal of street-level Marvel superheroes such as Daredevil and The Punisher. Shows like the Daredevil series on Netflix reshaped and reimagined fan’s expectations from the Marvel brand in live-action, while also introducing an entire realm of characters that converged in the crossover event, The Defenders.
The much-anticipated reboot of “Daredevil: Born Again” is soon to debut on Disney+, following several production adjustments. This fresh start marks a significant shift from the original Netflix series, as it now falls under the umbrella of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With “Born Again” reintroducing many pivotal characters from the previous “Daredevil” series on Netflix, there’s renewed excitement among fans that other Marvel Netflix characters might make an appearance in this new MCU “Daredevil” production.
Here are 7 Marvel Netflix Characters We Want to see in Daredevil: Born Again!
7. Claire Temple
In a casual and engaging style:
Rosario Dawson’s character, Claire Temple, who served as the quiet, behind-the-scenes figure in Marvel’s Netflix Universe, was a regular presence in each member’s solo series and the grand crossover event. Essentially, she embodied Marvel’s “Night Nurse” character with charm, making even the most insignificant storylines of each season more tolerable for viewers. It would be exciting to see Claire (and Dawson) join the MCU’s Daredevil series, potentially in her full-blown Night Nurse era.
6. Elektra
In the Netflix event series, Defenders, Élodie Yung’s Elektra was a central figure as the living weapon known as “Black Sky.” She assumed control over the mystical ninja group The Hand, only to seemingly meet her end when buried under debris during the final battle at Midland Circle in NYC. But Matt Murdock (played by Charlie Cox) managed to free himself from that rubble in Daredevil Season 3, hinting that a twist like Elektra’s resurrection might occur in Daredevil: Born Again. Given the increased prominence of this character in recent Marvel Comics – including her assuming the role of Daredevil herself – it seems wise to introduce her more substantially within the MCU.
5. Iron Fist
There’s talk that some prominent Defenders characters might reappear in Daredevil: Born Again (details to follow). If this is true, it’s crucial to incorporate Finn Jones’ Danny Rand/Iron Fist. For one, Danny has significant ties with other key Netflix characters we aim to bring into the MCU. Moreover, if Marvel Studios plans to revive the Iron Fist franchise within the MCU, Jones should be given the chance to wrap up Danny Rand’s tale gracefully and hand over the mantle appropriately. Daredevil: Born Again could initiate this transition.
4. Colleen Wing
In the Netflix series, “Iron Fist,” Colleen Wing played a significant role and attained the status of Iron Fist towards the end. Given that the Marvel-Netflix Universe has concluded, it’s plausible for Colleen (portrayed by Jessica Henwick) to make a strong return. If she is established as the main Iron Fist in “Daredevil: Born Again,” she might prove instrumental in rejuvenating the franchise within the MCU.
3. Misty Knight
Simone Missick’s character, Misty Knight, is a close second to Claire Temple as the most socially active figure in the Marvel-Netflix Universe. She made appearances in Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders, and even got a nod in Freeform’s Cloak & Dagger series. Missick has seen her career soar, but with her long-running TV show All Rise now concluded, the Marvel Cinematic Universe might benefit greatly from Misty’s return, particularly if she reappears alongside Colleen Wing to introduce their Heroes for Hire team in Born Again.
2. Luke Cage
As a devoted movie enthusiast, I can’t help but wonder if Mike Colter is truly ready to bid adieu to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His portrayal of Luke Cage was nothing short of a triumph in the Marvel-Netflix realm, and his absence has left fans yearning for his return, keeping a flame burning brighter than ever. Rumors swirl that “Daredevil: Born Again” could pave the way for Colter’s return with a significant cameo. However, it seems Luke Cage can’t make a comeback on his own…
1. Jessica Jones
As a devoted cinephile, I can’t help but get excited when hearing Krysten Ritter expressing her readiness for Jessica Jones to reappear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The buzz around her potential role in “Daredevil: Born Again” has been growing ever since Marvel Studios decided to revive the “Defenders” continuity with this series. Frankly, if Jessica Jones is not a part of it, Marvel enthusiasts might find themselves dealing with another round of dashed expectations. However, should she make a comeback, then we can officially say that the resurgence of the Defenders in the MCU is imminent.
