The speculation among fans about the conclusion of “Dragon Ball Daima” has been ongoing since its debut. There have been whispers and hints suggesting that this series might be shorter than previous Dragon Ball installments. A recent Hulu press announcement seems to have definitively revealed when the finale of “Dragon Ball Daima” will take place, and it’s sooner than many fans would prefer. According to the Hulu press release, the final episode is scheduled for February 28th, which would be its 20th episode. At present, only subtitled versions are available on Hulu, with dubbed versions exclusive to Crunchyroll. If Hulu’s projected release dates hold true, “Dragon Ball Daima” could rank as one of the shorter series in the Dragon Ball franchise.
Initially, the original Dragon Ball anime consisted of 153 episodes, followed by Dragon Ball Z with 291, Dragon Ball Super with 131, and even GT spanned over 64 episodes. Compared to these, Daima’s shorter run seems to indicate a more focused narrative, as it appears to have a clear start, development, and conclusion. Moreover, the storyline of Daima unfolds during a critical phase in the Dragon Ball timeline, occurring prior to the Battle of Gods movie and the Dragon Ball Super anime. Notably, the Dragon Ball Super anime was intended to follow directly after the Buu Saga but before the epilogue of Dragon Ball Z. With a limited timeframe at its disposal, Daima had to progressively move towards the introduction of Beerus without exceeding that point.
What is the Future of Dragon Ball after Daima
In simple terms, “Dragon Ball Daima” expanded the lore of its universe, revealing the fresh beginnings of the Kais, Namekains, and demons. The series also provided a long-awaited wish for fans by adding Super Saiyan 3 Vegeta to the official storyline. Although Episode 20 of “Daima” might be just the end of this season, there’s plenty more canon content for the Dragon Ball franchise to explore in future episodes.
After the Tournament of Power, the Dragon Ball Super manga introduced several storylines, offering a path for the Super anime to continue if the creators chose to do so. Additionally, there’s a possibility that new movies could be produced following Dragon Ball Daima, with the latest film in the series, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, set to release in 2022. With Sony planning to increase its anime production for 2025 as part of its entertainment strategy, it’s likely that we’ll hear about another Dragon Ball animation project sooner rather than later.
