Brookside Star Joins Corrie Amid Abi Webster’s Crisis

As a dedicated soap opera enthusiast, I must say that the recent buzz surrounding Coronation Street has been nothing short of deafening. However, what truly piques my interest is not just the whirlwind of casting updates but also an upcoming addition that promises to be electrifying.

As reported by The Sun, Suzanne Collins, known for her role in Brookside, is set to appear on Coronation Street this month. This appearance will be connected to the storyline featuring Abi Webster, played by Sally Carman-Duttine.

According to The Sun, it appears that Collins will be taking on the role of a daycare staff member at the same facility where Abi’s son Alfie goes. It is also said that Collins discreetly shot her scenes back in November.

Absolutely, Collins is widely recognized for playing Nikki Shadwick on Brookside, a soap opera set in Liverpool, which she portrayed from 1998 until the show’s final episode in 2003.

As a devoted admirer, I’ve seen Collins make a remarkable journey in his acting career. After gracing our screens in The Bill, Clink, and Soft Lad, he’s recently re-entered the soap world, appearing in Hollyoaks in 2022.

As for how Collins will slot into Abi Webster’s ongoing storyline, we’ll just have to wait and see.

Lately, Abi’s struggle to deal with the tragedy of Mason Radcliffe’s murder has intensified. Since attempting to rescue the teenager, Abi has been experiencing vivid memories of her deceased son Seb’s last days, seeking solace and support from Roy.

Kevin, the husband (played by Michael Le Vell), has also been anxious since discovering a lump and fearing possible testicular cancer. When he informed Abi about needing additional tests, it only deepened her emotional turmoil.

In the upcoming plot, we understand that Abi will encounter temptation. However, when speaking to Inside Soap about this storyline, Carman-Duttine stated: “As an actor, it’s thrilling! I pondered ‘Could Abi act in such a way?’ and indeed, she does have her unpredictable moments.

“The pull and temptation is just too much for her, and it reminds Abi of being young.”

She noted: “Her life has been filled with much sorrow and grief. This might be a means to divert her attention away from it, something she finds hard to resist.
