Nitro’s Shocking Exit: Why the Gladiators Star Won’t Compete in Season 2

The much-loved fan of Gladiators announces his absence from this season’s matches, following an injury incurred while preparing for the thrilling BBC One series.

In the premiere of season 2, it was revealed by Nitro – renowned for his swiftness and dance skills – that he would be temporarily stepping away from the show, yet he expressed his continued support and enthusiasm for his fellow Gladiators as they compete.

In tonight’s episode, Barney and Bradley Walsh shared some disappointing information, stating that Nitro would not participate in the series, as they announced this prior to his entrance on stage.

He clarified, “You understand that I’m both strong and potentially overpowering. There have been times when my power was too much to handle, leading me to injure myself slightly. A minor issue with my knee is a result. Incidents like these are common in sports when one pushes oneself as rigorously as you see me do.

Instead of competing, Nitro confirmed he’ll be cheering along with the audience members.

Previously mentioned by the name Nitro, it was disclosed last year that he wouldn’t be participating in the season 2 games using his real name, Harry Aikines-Aryeetey.

In his Instagram post, he shared: “I excel at speed, yet life can occasionally surprise us with a change in plans! While preparing for season 2 this year, I encountered an unforeseen knee injury that will cause me to adapt my approach during this upcoming series and sadly, miss out on the events.

Fear not, I’m refreshing and full of vigor like never before! Rest assured, you’ll continue to see me igniting the Nitro vibe on your screens, cheering on my fellow combatants, and maintaining an electrifying atmosphere. Here’s to series 2 of Gladiators!

In tonight’s show, two fresh gladiators, known as Cyclone and Hammer, are set to make their entrance onto the arena. These newcomers will join Nitro in observing from the sidelines, ready to compete against the British public in brand-new and familiar games.

As a passionate film enthusiast, I can tell you that although they weren’t present in tonight’s installment, Bradley and Barney Walsh have assured us that we’ll get to see them gracing our screens more frequently as the season unfolds.

Cyclone said in a statement: “I’ve got the look, I’ve got the energy and I’ve got the muscles.”

In the meantime, Hammer stated, “Facing someone who weighs 19 stone is like a race you can’t win. I’ll protect you instead.
