The makers of “The Simpsons” and “Family Guy” have expressed sympathy for everyone impacted by the wildfires in Los Angeles, California, which has sparked an unexpected discussion among fans regarding how these popular franchises are showing their support. Since early this month, Southern California has been hit by more than 30 wildfires, some of which are among the most devastating in California’s history. These fires have caused significant damage to the area, prompting people nationwide to offer words of encouragement and assistance.
Just last week, as the flames raged on, I found myself touched and inspired by the actions of our brave L.A. firefighters. In response, the creative genius behind Family Guy, Seth McFarlane, hopped onto social media to share a heartwarming sketch featuring Brian Griffin in his firefighter gear, expressing gratitude to our heroes with the words, “Stay safe.” It had been quite a while since we last saw a drawing of Brian from Seth, and this one was particularly meaningful.
But what really got me pumped up was when The Simpsons joined the fray, posting their own piece of art in solidarity with those impacted by the L.A. fires. It was an honor to see these two iconic animated characters standing together in support of our community during such challenging times.

What’s Wrong With The Simpsons Los Angeles Fires Tribute?
The official account for The Simpsons on social media posted an empathetic artwork depicting the Simpson family showing solidarity with Los Angeles residents, particularly highlighting regions affected by wildfires. However, this particular piece of art has garnered more widespread negative feedback from fans compared to Seth MacFarlane’s drawing of Brian. It is challenging to identify the reason for the criticism as the artwork expresses a positive sentiment that has been met with gratitude from recipients. Most of the negative comments seem to be directed at Bart.
Critics’ comments about the image primarily focus on Bart not showing any specific emotion, but it’s just one piece of a larger puzzle. In fact, fans of The Simpsons are delighted by this instance because it appears that those responsible for the series have offered emotional solace in this situation. However, similar to other cartoon characters used to depict real-world issues, there will always be a sense of detachment, regardless of the intention behind the image.
What’s Next for The Simpsons and Family Guy in 2025?
Starting off the New Year, “The Simpsons” and “Family Guy” are swapping their regular time slots on Fox. The network’s Animation Domination is preparing to debut its midseason wave of new animated shows, starting later in February. Leading this lineup change will be “Family Guy” moving into the usual slot for “The Simpsons,” with “Grimsburg,” “The Great North,” and “Krapopolis” all returning for additional episodes as well. In this schedule reshuffle, “The Simpsons” will momentarily pause its ongoing Season 36, while “Family Guy” begins Season 23.
Family Guy, previously scheduled to air in Fall 2024, has been postponed, making way for a midseason debut instead. The complete schedules for both Family Guy and The Simpsons beyond 2025 have yet to be disclosed. In the meantime, you can catch up on all episodes of Family Guy by streaming them on Hulu, while the first 35 seasons of The Simpsons are available for streaming on Disney+.
