Over the past year, Xbox has been working diligently to expand the reach of its video games beyond just its own platform. Given the high costs associated with game development, this move aims to recoup expenses by making Xbox-exclusive titles more accessible. Although the company hasn’t revealed much about its 2025 plans, whispers hint that this strategy will persist and the Nintendo Switch 2 might receive significant backing as a result. According to PH Brazil (as reported by Gaming Leaks and Rumors), this leaker claims to have knowledge of more Xbox games in development for the Switch 2 than any other publisher.
PH Brazil isn’t implying that Xbox will be the absolute largest backer of Nintendo Switch 2, but rather it’s the biggest support known at this moment. Since rumors can often be speculative, readers should take this with a pinch of salt. However, there are several compelling reasons to suspect that Xbox might be planning a substantial lineup of games for Nintendo Switch 2. NateTheHate, who correctly predicted the release date for Nintendo Switch 2 last week, has suggested that “Microsoft Flight Simulator 2” and “Halo: The Master Chief Collection” are currently in development for Switch 2. Jez Corden from Windows Central, on the other hand, anticipates that there will be “way more than that.”
Ever since Xbox started its project of transferring their games to other systems, Nintendo Switch users have recently enjoyed playing both “Pentiment” and “Grounded”. There are numerous Xbox games that could potentially be moved over to the Switch 2 in the future, such as “Sea of Thieves”, which was previously ported to PS5. Another potential addition is “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle”, currently exclusive to Xbox but set to arrive on PS5 this year. Additionally, we may see some games from the Call of Duty series due to the contract between Nintendo and Microsoft.
At present, enthusiasts of Nintendo are advised to exercise some patience, as specifics about the Nintendo Switch 2 are still scarce following its official unveiling on January 16th. As of now, we’re uncertain about its release date, pricing, and a substantial number of games that will be available beyond the new Mario Kart. A Nintendo Direct broadcast is scheduled for April 2nd, which promises to shed light on the console itself, as well as numerous games coming soon.
Back in the day, the notion of Xbox backing a Nintendo system would’ve struck me as utterly preposterous. Yet, considering all that’s unfolded lately, it certainly doesn’t seem far-fetched anymore! Here’s hoping this is an indication of ambitious plans for Nintendo Switch 2, and that we’ll be treated to a wealth of fantastic games on the platform soon.
