One of the highly awaited indie games, Hollow Knight: Silksong, is “truly in development, advancing, and set for release,” according to a team member from Cherry, responsible for marketing and distribution. This statement was made in response to a fan’s question about the game’s progress, more than five years after its initial announcement. Fans continue to eagerly seek updates on the title.
The community eagerly awaiting the sequel was intrigued by a hint dropped through a chocolate cake and some tweets suggesting “something significant” was imminent. It turned out these clues pointed towards last week’s Nintendo Switch 2 unveiling, leaving fans back at the starting line. A Nintendo Direct centered around their new console is planned for April 2nd, 2025, making it the next likely venue for Hollow Knight enthusiasts to catch a glimpse of Silksong since the original game launched on the Switch platform.
Originally unveiled in 2019, Hollow Knight: Silksong has generated much excitement following the success of its predecessor. It’s set to arrive on both PS5 and PS4 at an undetermined date. There have been brief glimmers of optimism for fans, such as a mysterious rating and online listings that ultimately proved unfounded nearly a year ago. This recent delay in release, however, is just the latest in a series of disappointments.
