Charlie Cox, known for his portrayal of Daredevil’s Matt Murdock, has given a hint about how long he will continue in this role. During the panel for “Daredevil: Born Again” at FAN EXPO San Francisco 2025, Cox shared some insights alongside co-star Wilson Bethel, who plays Bullseye. They discussed exciting production aspects of the highly anticipated “Daredevil: Born Again” series, providing a sneak peek into its upcoming episodes.
In his own words, “As I continue to portray this character I’ve been playing for a decade, it’s unsettling to see him age. It’s strange because when our show got canceled in 2018, we went through a kind of grieving process. We thought we were going to have a fourth season, but that didn’t happen. Suddenly, we received a call saying it was all over, finished.
During the Q&A session, when inquired about their enthusiasm for launching “Born Again,” Cox reminisced on his ten-year stint as the character and hinted at his upcoming and final appearance as Matt Murdock, much to the delight of many spectators. The action hero started by summarizing his extended role as Daredevil, before implying he might stick around for a longer period than one might anticipate.
Cox humorously commented, “Just like every breakup, we reunited.” He added, “I realize there will eventually be a moment when it truly won’t happen again… and the longer it persists, the harder it becomes to let go. However, during Comic-Con, I had a chat with some of the Daredevil writers and comic team about an upcoming comic featuring Matt Murdock in his sixties. So, I thought, ‘Alright, that gives us some time.’
The actor started speaking about how his job had led him to connect with the visually impaired community, and he felt deeply moved when individuals with visual impairments or any kind of disability shared that the character from “Daredevil” had a significant impact on them, helping them confront challenges in their lives due to their specific disabilities.
He went on to say, “We’ve always given great significance to this matter, ensuring we get it correct is crucial. I trust we’ve succeeded, and if so, it’s quite exciting. Just recently, I had the opportunity to visit a school for visually impaired children in New York. It’s incredibly heartwarming and emotional to interact with kids who feel such a strong bond with the character due to their unique connection.
In a summary provided by Marvel, the upcoming series portrays Matt Murdock as he strives for justice through his law firm, while Wilson Fisk (played by Vincent D’Onofrio) advances his political aspirations in New York. As their past lives begin to resurface, these two individuals are drawn towards an unavoidable confrontation.
Daredevil: Born Again premieres March 4th on Disney+.
