Melania Trump’s Hat Designer Shares Surprising Inauguration Secrets!

The man behind Melania Trump’s head-turning hat is sharing how it came to be.

Following the First Lady’s distinctive wide-brimmed boater hat causing a wave of memes online during her joint appearance with husband Donald Trump at his Inauguration, the hat’s creator, Eric Javits, expressed the significance of contributing to the wardrobe of the new First Lady.

I felt immense pride and gratitude for designing the hat worn by our First Lady, Melania Trump, during the inauguration of our 47th President on January 20. With her innate elegance, beauty, and charisma, she turned a relatively simple, understated hat design into an unforgettable moment. The hat was lovingly created for her.

Additionally, he offered a look at the creation of the viral headwear.

In an Instagram Story video posted on January 20th, Javits gave viewers a peek into the process of crafting his hats by trimming the navy blue material destined for the accessory. Later, he shared a segment where this fabric was carefully wrapped around a hat stand and secured with yellow sewing pins to maintain its shape.

Additionally, the fashion designer shared several responses to his design on Instagram Stories. One comment labeled Melania’s attire as “stylish even in snow,” while another simply expressed admiration for a well-designed hood.

In the midst of the events unfolding in Washington, D.C., I learned from Javits that Melania’s popular accessory, destined for her outfit, almost didn’t make the cut due to an incident during its transportation from Miami to New York.

As I eagerly unboxed my long-awaited hat on January 20th, my heart sank – it seemed as though it had been buried under snow for days! Needless to say, a flurry of activity ensued as I immediately set about reworking the piece. Unfortunately, due to its intricate construction, it couldn’t be easily fixed.

Instead, Javits stated that he crafted an additional hat and handed it over directly to Melania’s stylist, Herve Pierre. He did this to reduce the chances of any further mishaps, as he personally delivered it to her.

Upon the First Lady’s arrival in the city, her hat became an instant online sensation, capturing not just the interest of the web, but also that of her spouse.

As I stepped onto the helicopter moments ago, I bid farewell. The wind was relentless, threatening to carry her hat off into the distance. Reflecting on this during my inaugural speech as President.

He continued, “We almost lost her. She was being elevated off the ground. She almost blew away.”
