Following the revelation that the King of Monsters will clash with Marvel’s cheerful green titan, the Incredible Hulk, it appears New York City’s acrobatic wall-crawler is joining the fray as well. In a recent announcement by Marvel, Godzilla vs. Spider-Man has been unveiled as the next comic in the monster-filled crossover event. However, this battle will deviate slightly from the norm. Unlike his usual encounters, the lizard king will be facing off against Peter Parker, but it will not feature a regular version of the beloved Marvel character. Instead, this storyline takes place during a specific period in Spider-Man’s life, granting him one of his most potent versions as a superhero. Luckily for fans, this particular timeframe provides an opportunity for Spidey to showcase his incredible might.
Godzilla vs Spider-Man #1″ Debuts on April 30th this Spring – A Monumental Collaboration
Noteworthy comic writer Joe Kelly, recognized for his previous works such as Deadpool, The Amazing Spider-Man, and Uncanny X-Men, is spearheading this epic crossover. Accompanying him in this endeavor is artist Nick Bradshaw, boasting a rich background with titles like Wolverine And The X-Men, Strange Academy, and Fantastic Four.
In line with the information shared earlier, this crossover unfolds shortly after Marvel’s original Secret Wars storyline, implying that Peter will be donning his traditional symbiote attire. This development could pave the way for a Venom-inspired Godzilla to emerge, potentially unveiling the most potent Venom we’ve witnessed so far.
The Itsy Bitsy Kaiju
Joe Kelly enthusiastically shared his anticipation for this upcoming project, describing it as his opportunity to unleash his creative energies, “As soon as I learned about the Godzilla-Spider-Man crossover taking place in the ’80s, I was ready to jump over the table to claim it. This book offers me a chance to go all out and have a great time with two legendary characters while embracing the energy of the era that I was an avid Spider-Man collector. Nick Bradshaw expertly portrays the absurdity of the idea and the tone I aimed for, while still giving Godzilla and Spidey (in his understated black suit!) the respect and grandeur they deserve. It’s a heartfelt tribute delivered with a deafening roar!
Absolutely! It’s not just one big crossover event for our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man this year; another thrilling encounter is looming on the streets of New York City. Last year, we learned about the epic showdown between Spider-Man and the Predator in Predator Versus Spider-Man. Get ready to hold your breath as the legendary alien hunter sets his sights on none other than our web-slinging hero! Incidentally, this crossover is scheduled for April, so get those spidey senses tingling, fellow wall crawler enthusiasts, because there’s a lot to be excited about when it comes to this exciting crossover!
Godzilla Vs. Marvel
Together with Spider-Man, Godzilla intends to engage in battles against both the Incredible Hulk and the Fantastic Four, starting this March. The six-issue mini-series has yet to disclose what the last three issues will depict for Godzilla, but it’s not hard to imagine that the Avengers and X-Men might attempt to tackle the kaiju in their turn.
Interestingly, Marvel found itself trailing behind in the modern era when it comes to battling Godzilla, as DC Comics concluded their ‘Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong’ series. This series took some daring steps, such as transforming King Kong into a Green Lantern, and it proved so popular that a follow-up is now in development.
