Shocking One Piece Twist: Shanks’ Brother Revealed After 20 Years!

The long-awaited Elbaf Arc of the “One Piece” manga has begun, where the Giants’ homeland, the legendary kingdom of Elbaf, welcomes our crew. Following their confrontation with Admiral Kizaru and Gorosei, the Straw Hats embark on a new journey. This time, they’re visiting an island that Luffy and Usopp have longed to see since the Little Garden Arc. Even Dorry and Brogy aren’t exceptions; the rest of the Giants are equally eager to host the crew in their home. Typically, the Straw Hats need to conceal their identities on new islands due to their outlaw status, but they might find a different reception here.

Although Elbaf isn’t allied with the World Government, it remains untouched by their restrictions. Luffy and his comrades explore the island, taking in its villages, the Walrus School, and the tranquil Owl Library as the story unfolds. The magnificent kingdom is revealed to be a place of beauty and peace. At the same time, Shanks’ brother, along with another Holy Knight, sneak into the underworld for an encounter with Loki. Shanks’ brother holds a knightly title and is a skilled swordsman. This sudden turn in the plot might shock fans, but Eiichiro Oda had already planned it during the preliminary stages of the manga.

Warning: Spoilers from One Piece Chapter 1137 ahead!

Oda Drew Shanks as a Knight Before One Piece Began

In one of the initial designs, Oda depicted Shanks as a knight commander about three years post-war, which was possibly featured in the Monsters 103 official guidebook known as Kantai Shinroku. This detail reemerged following Oda’s introduction of Shamrock Figarland in One Piece Chapter 1137. As it turns out, Shamrock leads the Holy Knights, much like how the creator had imagined him over two decades ago. After Garling became a Gorosei, Shamrock assumed his position as leader.

Furthermore, fans have pointed out that Shamrock bears a striking resemblance to Shanks, leading them to speculate they are identical twins. Debuting in Chapter 907, this character sparked much excitement among readers. Some assumed Shanks was secretly working for the World Government, while others noticed the conspicuous absence of a scar and concluded he must be Shanks’ twin brother. The chapter came out in June 2018, and author Oda has now resolved the mystery.

What Is Shamrock Figarland’s Goal in Coming to Elbaf?

Initially, Shamrock makes an attempt to enlist Loki into the ranks of the Holy Knights. It’s important to note that this position is exclusively for World Nobles, but Loki, being unique, was the one offered a spot, even though he isn’t a Celestial Dragon. However, when Elbaf’s Prince spurns and disparages them, Gunko responds with violence. She slays Loki’s underworld beast, his wolf, and inflicts torment upon him as well. Despite this, Loki remains unyielding, prompting Shamrock to instruct Gunko to reach out to Mary Geoise.

If Shamrock calls upon additional Holy Knights in Elbaf, it seems inevitable that conflict will ensue. His intention is clear: to coerce the Giants, the most powerful and honorable race in the world, into joining their ranks. The World Government has long coveted the Giants’ formidable powers, and with Shamrock’s cunning schemes, it appears that the tranquil realm of the Giants is on the verge of becoming a battleground.
