Recently, Sega has been on a resurgence, reintroducing classic intellectual properties such as Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio, Streets of Rage, and Virtua Fighter. However, fans are curious about Skies of Arcadia, the cherished turn-based role-playing game from the Dreamcast era. Could there be a potential comeback for this beloved title?
As a gaming enthusiast, it feels like my dreams might just come true earlier than expected! It seems the developers have officially trademarked “Skies of Arcadia” and its Japanese counterpart, “Eternal Arcadia,” on January 16th. These listings were made public by Gematsu’s keen eye. Could this mean a revival or new installment in the Skies of Arcadia series? Only time will tell!
Launched in October 2000, the game Skies of Arcadia received widespread praise from critics. A Nintendo GameCube version, titled Skies of Arcadia Legends, was released in 2002 with extra content. Although plans for a sequel were considered, it never materialized. To this day, there has been no remaster or port for modern gaming systems.
It’s not yet clear whether the announcements are about starting a new venture, improving an old one, creating a follow-up, or unveiling something else entirely. However, this indicates progress, so keep an eye out for further developments over the next few months.
