It appeared that Eiichiro Oda had concluded the significant disclosures following the Egghead Arc, but it seems that the Elbaf Arc in “One Piece” might still have a major revelation yet to unveil. As the cradle of legends, Elbaf has already provided fans with numerous captivating insights into Sun God Nika, and the most recent chapter hints that this arc could potentially disclose the origins of Luffy’s devil fruit at last.
In chapter 1137 of “One Piece,” we learn that King Harald, the previous ruler of Elbaf, was slain by Loki fourteen years prior to the current storyline. Although this may seem like a minor detail compared to other significant disclosures such as Shanks’ brother Shamrock, it significantly helps fans construct an engaging timeline. This new information raises the intriguing possibility that the legendary Elbaf devil fruit, which was traditionally held by the monarchy, could be none other than Luffy’s Nika Fruit, which was taken twelve years ago.
Luffy’s Nika Fruit May Be Elbaf’s Legendary Devil Fruit
In an exhilarating turn of events disclosed in Chapter 1130, it’s become clear that Loki, my favorite trickster, had a hidden motive behind slaying his father, King Harald: the coveted grasp of a legendary devil fruit, a secret heirloom of Elbaf’s royal line. Until this point, theories abounded about the connection between this mysterious fruit and mythical entities like Fenris or even the peculiar laughter-inducing Toon-Toon Fruit. However, the latest chapter has solidified the assumption that the devil fruit Loki yearned to possess could be none other than the Gum-Gum Fruit, or perhaps the elusive Nika Fruit. This revelation adds another layer of intrigue to the saga of Loki’s ambitions!
12 years ago, as per Who’s Who in Chapter 1017, the Nika Fruit was allegedly taken from CP9. It is speculated that Shanks might have been the thief before the fruit was consumed by a young Luffy, who was seven at the time. There’s a chance that Cipher Pol could have acquired the Nika Fruit before it fell into Loki’s hands. The two-year interval between King Harald’s demise and the theft of the Nika Fruit from Cipher Pol might be due to Cipher Pol either waiting for the fruit to be reborn or searching for the recently reincarnated fruit during that period.
It seems clear that Loki being tethered to the Jewel Tree Adam with chains of sea prism stone implies he has some sort of devil fruit ability, even if it wasn’t Harald’s specific fruit. Perhaps he consumed a different devil fruit on purpose or by accident. The length of time Loki spent at sea, which totals six years before Shanks found him, might indicate that he was searching for the Nika Fruit, an possibility that Luffy may have already claimed it in the past.
In light of the significant role of the Sun God Nika in Elbaf and the wealth of information about the legendary warrior found in ancient texts like Harley, it seems logical that Elbaf would protect the Nika Fruit for centuries. Since Elbaf has never been associated with the World Government, and the Giants’ fearsome reputation as warriors would have discouraged anyone from seeking the Nika Fruit in Elbaf, this scenario provides a plausible explanation for how the Nika Fruit has supposedly eluded the World Government all these years. In essence, the Elbaf Arc offers ample opportunity to delve into this topic further. Even though many questions remain about King Harald’s demise and Loki’s standing, it won’t be long before One Piece provides answers to these and other pressing issues.
Because Sun God Nika plays a crucial role in Elbaf and there is extensive data about the legendary warrior in ancient texts like Harley, it seems reasonable that Elbaf has guarded the Nika Fruit for centuries. Since Elbaf hasn’t been allied with the World Government, and the Giants’ fearsome warrior reputation would have deterred people from searching for the Nika Fruit in Elbaf, this explanation could account for why the Nika Fruit has allegedly avoided detection by the World Government for years. Essentially, the Elbaf Arc offers a rich backdrop to explore these ideas further. Although mysteries about King Harald’s death and Loki’s reputation persist, One Piece is expected to address these and other pressing queries soon enough.
