To quite a few anime enthusiasts, the script in series like “Jujutsu Kaisen” and “Chainsaw Man” is comparable to that of Shakespeare. Although this could be seen as an overstatement, one devotee has taken it literally. On their Instagram account, an anime fan and voice actor named Faaiz Mbelizi (@faaizvo on Instagram) has combined the flair of Shakespeare with some of the most well-known anime, such as “Jujutsu Kaisen”, “Chainsaw Man”, “Dragon Ball Z”, “Attack on Titan”, “My Hero Academia”, “Bleach”, and numerous others.
In the online anime community, fan edits play a significant role. Fans frequently combine scenes from their preferred series or characters, allowing others to admire and marvel at them. However, Faaiz has gone beyond the norm, not just splicing clips but also re-recording dialogue lines and making extensive changes to the conversations. The results range from being humorous to occasionally heartwarmingly poignant.
The Chainsaw Man x Shakespeare Crossover Is Hilarious
You may have found Shakespeare tedious following required readings of his dramatic pieces in school. However, aside from “Macbeth” and “Romeo & Juliet”, Shakespeare penned some utterly zany comedies as well. Faaiz Mbelizi drew inspiration from these comedies when he devised his “Chainsaw Man” and Shakespeare crossover. To date, Faaiz has completed three re-interpretations of “Chainsaw Man,” but his inaugural attempt remains a fan favorite.
Faaiz Mbelizi revamped and reshot the Leech Devil battle scene from Episode 4, enhancing the already intense desire for survival in Denji’s character with an additional layer of elegance. The reworked dialogue starts with “Demonstrate your worth in the realm of dreams,” as Denji declares in the updated version. “If I defeat you, the matter is resolved. The rule of voluptuous breasts shall prevail.
Lately, Faaiz Mbelizi has given a new voiceover to the ball-kicking fight between Denji and Aki in Episode 2, as well as their later confession to Makima. Denji declares dramatically, “A vile fiend caused chaos to my loins, my lady.” I’m curious, how much would it cost to have the entire season rewritten in this style?
Jujutsu Kaisen x Shakespeare is Pure Poetry
If we were to reimagine “Chainsaw Man” as a comedic play like “Twelfth Night,” then “Jujutsu Kaisen” would be the beautifully poetic work of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” Recently, one of the edits in “JJK” has transformed the intense fight between Mahito and Yuji from the “Shibuya Incident” arc in Season 2 into a more eloquent, flowery monologue for Yuji.
I affirm this truth, Mahito,” Yuji’s speech initiates. “I am as you. Never have I desired more fervently to reject you? To feign ignorance and scorn your words? Yet now that route is barred.” In this rephrased version, we kindly request Studio MAPPA to consider a re-dub of the English script with a more Shakespearean tone.
At Jump Festa 2025, both “Jujutsu Kaisen” and “Chainsaw Man” received significant updates on their upcoming story arcs. The first trailer for the “Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc” was premiered at the anime convention. Moreover, MAPPA presented a sneak peek of “Jujutsu Kaisen”‘s third season as well.
