Capcom Aims to Bring Back “Dormant IPs”
2024 saw Capcom, renowned Japanese video game developer behind hits like Mega Man X, revealing at the Game Awards they’d be revisiting their archives for their next project. On December 13th, 2024, they made this announcement official via a press release on their site.
Alongside consistently launching major new games annually, Capcom is also concentrating on resurrecting dormant intellectual properties that haven’t seen a new release for some time. The company aims to boost its corporate worth by utilizing its extensive archive of content, such as reintroducing older IPs like the two titles mentioned earlier [Onimusha Way of the Sword and Okami], with the goal of consistently creating efficient and high-quality games.
Capcom boasts a rich catalog of games, but it’s safe to say that Mega Man continues to be one of their most beloved choices. For the time being, we can look forward to more Capcom releases in the near future!
