This year will see the debut of “Witch Watch,” the highly anticipated TV anime adaptation from Weekly Shonen Jump, and GKIDS has arranged a special early watch party in theaters before its official spring premiere. The manga series “Witch Watch” by Kenta Shinohara is one of the most consistent successes within Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. Similar to the creator’s past work, “Sket Dance,” “Witch Watch” offers humorous, episodic adventures that continue to grow with each new installment. Soon, the enchanting world of “Witch Watch” will come to life in the anime realm this coming spring.
Before Witch Watch officially airs on TV in April, fans get a sneak peek with a “Witch Watch: Watch Party” hosted by GKIDS starting March 16th. The first three episodes of the new series will be shown in theaters prior to its full release in April. At this point, the locations for screenings have not been disclosed, but you can watch the trailer for the “Witch Watch: Watch Party” in the video above and the special poster below.
What Is Witch Watch?
The initial broadcasting of the first three episodes of “Witch Watch” by GKIDS is quite significant, considering the impressive performance of “Dandadan” last year. This indicates that “Witch Watch” has garnered a substantial following, despite being a relatively under-the-radar hit in Shonen Jump’s manga series. Kenta Shinohara introduced “Witch Watch” within the magazine in 2021 and has since released close to 200 chapters, showing no signs of slowing down, suggesting its growing popularity.
In this new series, audiences will meet Morihito, an ogre destined to serve as the companion to his childhood friend, a budding witch called Nico. When she moves in with him for safety, their days become filled with enchanting mishaps as Nico employs her spells and delves deeper into discovering her abilities. Expected to debut around April 2025 as part of the Spring 2025 anime lineup, however, a specific release date has yet to be announced.

His peaceful life is disrupted when his childhood friend, Nico, who happens to be a trainee witch, moves in with him. Despite her excitement at reconnecting with her old friend and crush, Morihito is now responsible for protecting Nico from an impending disaster that has been foretold. With the uncontrollable mayhem caused by Nico’s magic, and the awkwardness of sharing a home, their lives spin into a frenzy of supernatural mishaps and perils.
