In each episode of the latest “Dragon Ball Daima” anime series, we delve deeper into the Demon Realm, uncovering a surprising truth about the Demon King Dabura – he wasn’t as malevolent as initially portrayed. The new adventure in “Dragon Ball Daima” began by transporting Goku and his companions to this mysterious realm for the first time in the anime series. Although hints of the Demon Realm have been dropped in previous “Dragon Ball” installments, “Dragon Ball Daima” is the first instance where the anime has devoted significant attention to exploring this realm’s unique characters, worlds, and cultures.
The climactic point of Dragon Ball Daima has been reached as Goku and his companions have now arrived at the First Demon World, providing fans with further insights into the Demon Realm as a whole. Previously hinted was the desire of the Supreme Demon King Gomah to possess the Evil Third Eye, an artifact lost in the past, and the latest episode of the series disclosed that it was Dabura who had vanished this relic to challenge his father Abura for supreme power. However, recent events depicting Dabura’s actions within this world suggest he may not be as villainous as initially perceived.
Dabura Hides the Evil Third Eye
Episode 15 of Dragon Ball Daima unfolds as Goku and his companions persist in their battle within the First Demon World. It’s revealed that Hybis has unwittingly worn the Evil Third Eye as a belt buckle all along. This is where we learn about Hybis’ past, detailing how he came to possess the Eye in the first place.
The narrative then delves into history, explaining that the Evil Third Eye was an artifact of power and authority inherited by previous Supreme Demon Kings. When worn on a Demon King’s forehead, it granted them extraordinary power from another realm.
It’s hinted that a tool once utilized by past Supreme Demon Kings in certain situations was discovered, but things shifted when Abura ascended to the position of Supreme Demon King. In a flashback, we learn that while Abura was absent from the throne, Dabura secretly delegated another demon to covertly retrieve this artifact. However, the demon who took it disappeared, causing Dabura to lose contact and presumably the item forever. What Dabura truly desired wasn’t the artifact itself, but control over the throne instead.
Dabura Isn’t So Bad After All
The key detail about this disclosure is that Dabura aimed to seize his father’s throne by disposing of the eye, not for its power. It’s unclear if he resorted to violence to achieve this goal, but what stands out is his intention to use stealth instead, hiding the eye to prevent his father from getting it. This new insight offers a distinct perspective on Dabura within the Demon Realm.
The past episodes of “Dragon Ball Daima” have shown statues being built in honor of Dabura and hinted that things worsened since Gomah took control, suggesting that Dabura may not have been a universally bad ruler. Despite his villainous nature and dark heart, as demonstrated in “Dragon Ball Z”, Dabura serves as an example from “Dragon Ball Daima” that not all demons are innately evil.
