Last week, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth made its debut on PC platforms, defying its relatively low performance on the PlayStation 5. To the contrary, it appears that this action RPG has made an impressive entrance among its freshly acquired fanbase.
Over the past weekend, the number of players simultaneously enjoying Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on Steam reached a remarkable 40,564. This figure far surpasses the peak concurrent player numbers for both Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (13,804) and Final Fantasy 16 (27,508) when they were first released on PC. Interestingly, only the MMORPG Final Fantasy 14 (95,150) has seen a higher concurrent player count on Steam for any other Final Fantasy game.
How does it stack up against other recent big RPG launches? There’s not much difference to be found. For example, “Persona 3 Reload” boasts 45,002 simultaneous players, while “Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth” has 46,161. However, it’s worth noting that this version was released a year later as a port.
In our assessment of the newly launched PC edition, we bestowed a rating of 9 out of 10, expressing, “The remake, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, remains essentially unchanged after a year, but the PC version delivers on its promise of enhanced visual quality.” For a comprehensive look at our review, click here. It’s known that “Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth” is playable on PlayStation 5 and PC. Rumors suggest that it may additionally be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S as well.
