Dragon Ball Sees Cell Dissing Himself in Wild New Cutscene: Watch

In Dragon Ball Super, they skillfully revived one of the shonen series’ most formidable villains, Frieza, and took it up a notch by introducing not just one, but two new transformations for this alien tyrant. The announcement that Cell would be resurrected sparked excitement among viewers. However, some anime enthusiasts weren’t pleased with the design of “Cell Max,” the final and most powerful creation of the Red Ribbon Army. In an unexpected twist, it seems that the original Cell isn’t too fond of his future self, as humorously depicted in a scene from Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero.

In the recent storyline I’ve been observing, it’s not the same formidable Cell we knew from the main Dragon Ball Z series. Instead, it was Dr. Hedo, the grandson of Dr. Gero, who crafted this new antagonist. Unlike his grandfather, Dr. Hedo is more of a flamboyant character, often seen in a superhero outfit and putting on quite the dramatic show. Yet, despite his young age, he seems to be a brilliant scientist, far surpassing his granddad in intellect. Fortunately for the Z-Fighters, by the end of the latest movie, Dr. Hedo has switched allegiances. It’s possible that in the future, he might create a Cell Max who fights on the side of good.

Cell Vs. Cell: Cell War

Among the advantages of playing Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero, lies the fact that its character list isn’t bound by continuity, storylines or timelines. This means characters from both the hero and villain camps of Dragon Ball can engage in battles with each other. With the latest DLC addition, even First Form Cell now has an opportunity to confront his future self. In a humorous new video clip, the original Cell character experiences an “identity crisis” upon witnessing the grotesque form that lies ahead and finds it hard to accept that this is the “perfection” he’s been pursuing all along.

For those unaware, the renowned creator of Dragon Ball, Akira Toriyama, has previously stated that his favorite transformation was Cell’s second form. This is evident in the similarity between Cell Max and this form, as Toriyama played a significant role in shaping the storyline for the movie. Even with Goku and Vegeta taking a back seat, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero still had several unexpected elements, such as Gohan Beast and Orange Piccolo, that left fans in awe.

The quote I most enjoy from Cell Max occurs when Imperfect Cell grapples with an existential dilemma, struggling to comprehend his purpose in life.

Will Cell Return?

There’s been much speculation among Dragon Ball enthusiasts about whether Cell might reappear, considering his latest loss against Gohan Beast. However, it’s only confirmed that there will be a new Dragon Ball Super one-shot next month; the resumption of the manga is a separate matter. As for Cell’s return, it remains uncertain, but given the significance of Frieza’s ultimate form, Black Frieza, when the manga does resume, it’s likely that Frieza will play a significant role in the storyline.

As a die-hard Dragon Ball fan, I must admit that my hopes of seeing Cell make an appearance in Dragon Ball Daimao are dwindling as we’re just a few episodes away from the grand finale. With Dr. Anisu’s latest minions, Majin Kuu and Majin Duu, looming as formidable adversaries for our Z-Fighters, Goku and his crew still have some major battles ahead!
