Compile Heart and Neilo announce third-person shooter Scarlet Salvation for PS5, PS4, and PC

Developers Neilo, under Publisher Compile Heart, have revealed their upcoming third-person shooter game titled “Scarlet Salvation.” This title is set to release on the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC on May 29 in Japan for 8,580 yen. In addition, a special limited edition of the game will be available for purchase at 12,980 yen.

The game titled “Scarlet Salvation” is known for being difficult, and it’s masterminded by Hiroshi Aoki, who has a history of creating games such as “Rune Factory 5”, “Rune Factory 4 Special”, and “Space Invaders Extreme”. In a playful remark, Aoki admitted that even one of his earlier games, “Global Champion” or “Kaiser Knuckle” in Japan, had a notoriously high level of challenge. Contrastingly, “Scarlet Salvation” has been designed to offer an enjoyable gaming experience without the frustration of fumbling with controls.

The main character, Willow Martin (portrayed by Fairouz Ai), lacks recollection of her earlier life, yet in the heat of a conflict, she effortlessly maneuvers and exhibits remarkable fighting skills. Simultaneously, AI (voiced by Junichi Suwabe) materializes as well.

In simple terms, Willow possesses a variety of ten distinct weapon options, some of which resemble those seen in sci-fi genres. Notably, these weapons can be enhanced for improved performance. Additionally, you’ll find teleportation-style maneuvers and parrying mechanisms incorporated within the gameplay.

In these games, dungeons are constructed at random. If you perish during play, any weapons or progress levels you’ve earned will be forfeited, but an enigmatic figure appears to increment a numeral on your character’s countenance.

Currently, details about the announcement are exclusively found in Famitsu magazine. However, Compile Heart has unveiled a teaser trailer and created a teaser site as well. The short video showcases Willow, marked with “00001” on her visage, battling against mechanical weaponry.

Watch the teaser trailer below. An official announcement is planned for January 30.
