The timeless horror games “Dino Crisis” and its successor have been released for PC via GOG. Each game is offered individually at the price of $9.99 or you can opt for a package deal that includes both, priced at $16.99.
The games in question have been published through GOG’s Conservation Plan, as explained by the platform itself. This initiative is designed to ensure that the games remain accessible for contemporary hardware and audiences. In other words, under this program, these games are compatible with present and future Windows versions, and they are offered without Digital Rights Management (DRM).
In the initial version of “Dino Crisis,” the story centers on an investigator named Regina delving into a highly classified military initiative. As events unfold, it is revealed that the research, which was presented as a clean energy solution, was actually abandoned and considered impractical.
In Dino Crisis 2, the storyline centers around an elusive energy source known as Third Energy, which is considered highly volatile. The game tasks players with embarking on a rescue operation aimed at securing valuable research data and any remaining personnel for the government.
As a dedicated fan, I’d say both these titles bore a strong resemblance to the Resident Evil series of the era, with its signature fixed camera angles and an abundance of dinosaur-induced jumpscares that had me on the edge of my seat. The heart of the gameplay was centered around resource management – be it ammunition or healing items – as we navigated through the diverse levels, accomplishing objectives along the way.
In this GOG version of both games, you’ll find a variety of enhancements such as all language versions, user-friendly difficulty levels, a superior DirectX renderer, and additional rendering choices. These titles also are compatible with contemporary controllers like DualSense, DualShock 4, and controllers from the Xbox Series and Xbox One.
Over the past year, GOG has been quite active with Capcom games, starting with the release of the original Resident Evil 2 on their platform in August 2024, and then releasing the original Resident Evil 3 in September 2024.
