Baldur’s Gate 3 released in 2023 to thunderous applause from gamers and critics alike.
Featuring powerful acting, breathtaking graphics, and countless choices for the player, it offered everything one could hope for in a role-playing game.
In a manner that spanned all platforms (with the exception of Nintendo Switch, lacking the necessary power), everyone had an opportunity to immerse themselves in this extraordinary experience without feeling left out due to exclusive console limitations.
On the other hand, while the Series S had many features found in other ports, including the Series X, it lacked a specific aspect that was present in all of them.
Those with an Xbox Series S couldn’t play split-screen co-op.
However, this is about to change with a huge Baldur’s Gate 3 January 2025 update.
Let’s take a closer look at the upcoming patch!
When is the Baldur’s Gate 3 January 2025 update?
The announcement for Update Patch 8, which occurred in December 2024, has been highly anticipated. This significant update is particularly exciting due to the much-desired addition of split-screen functionality at last for Series S users.
Currently, it’s unclear exactly when the official release of the update will take place, however, it’s anticipated that Patch 8 will undergo stress testing during this month.
In an interesting turn of events, the patch seems to have been released early for PS5 users.
As a dedicated gamer, I’ve got some news for fellow PlayStation 5 gamers out there. It seems Larian Studios has come forward saying there’s an issue with the latest update for our game. They advise us all to steer clear of downloading it at the moment to avoid any potential problems. Stay tuned for more updates!
What to expect from the Baldur’s Gate 3 January 2025 update
Apart from the mentioned split-screen co-op mode rolling out on Series S, I’m thrilled to share that Patch 8 is packed with numerous updates that will grace every gaming platform where I exist.
A significant shift that we’re implementing is called “cross-platform compatibility,” which means you’ll now have the freedom to engage in multiplayer games with players across various consoles.
Additionally, fresh specializations, or sub-roles if you will, are coming to the game. Specifically, there’ll be a brand new one for each of the existing Bard, Barbarian, Cleric, Druid, Paladin, Fighter, Monk, Ranger, Rogue, Sorcerer, Warlock, and Wizard classes.
The patch includes a new feature called “Photo Mode”, similar to a photo booth, allowing you to create almost any desired photograph setup.
As a game enthusiast, I’ve stumbled upon an exciting new addition that allows me to tailor my in-game snapshots like never before. The flexibility varies based on the scenario – whether I’m capturing moments amidst thrilling adventures, or during combat, dialogues, and cinematic sequences. Each setting offers a unique level of creative control!
