Will Matthew Return? Helen George’s Call the Midwife Future Shrouded in Mystery

Call the Midwife‘s Helen George has revealed she doesn’t know if Matthew will return to Poplar.

Last season, Trixie’s husband departed for a new business venture in New York City, as he had lost management of his father’s company due to accumulating debts and opted to take the chance. Initially uncertain, Trixie ultimately chose to accompany him on this journey.

Currently, she divides her days between New York City (the Big Apple) and London, as she has assumed a higher-level position there, balancing it with her midwife responsibilities. This dual role is an effort to prevent the impending closure of Nonnatus House by the Board of Health.

Although George has told Sister Julienne that they intend to go back to England earlier than planned, he remains uncertain about what lies ahead for them.

George shared with Sister Julienne their plan of returning to England sooner than expected, but he’s still unsure about the course the future may take.

She expressed uncertainty at the TopMob Covers Party, saying, “I can’t wait to discover what unfolds!” At this point, I’m clueless about the outcome, but I’m thrilled to learn more.

However, since then, no new developments have emerged, leaving the fate of Trixie and Matthew’s on-screen union uncertain. This uncertainty lingers about the state of their marital relationship.

Currently, Call the Midwife is airing its 14th season, and it’s been quite an exciting ride for several characters.

1) Nancy departed from Nonnatus House to be near her future spouse Roger; their relationship was flourishing when Cyril and Rosalind found themselves in a romantic situation before he went to see his separated wife Lucille in Jamaica. Meanwhile, the midwives accepted Sister Catherine as part of their group, who also carries a heartbreaking past.

The series has further delved into various significant and emotionally resonant medical scenarios, such as a plot revolving around a pair who choose adoption after their newborn daughter was diagnosed with spina bifida.

Heidi Thomas, the executive producer and writer of Call the Midwife, expressed that everyone involved in the show was deeply touched when they learned that baby June’s tale had sparked so much curiosity.

In 1970, she was diagnosed with spina bifida. Despite how much things have evolved since then, worries about this condition persist.

On our program, we frequently tackle complex and emotionally charged medical topics. It brings us great joy to see our viewers directly seeking reliable resources like the NHS website for additional details.

This week, our mailbox has been overflowing, filled with messages from viewers expressing their personal experiences with spina bifida. They’ve also expressed gratitude for our portrayal of June’s story.

“It is an absolute privilege to be able to educate, entertain and connect with people in this way.”
