Last year when Sony implemented compulsory linking of PSN accounts for their PC releases, this action sparked much debate, to put it lightly. Since then, they’ve consistently adhered to this policy with every new release on the platform. However, as we move forward, Sony plans to introduce modifications that PC gamers are bound to find favorable.
Sony has revealed that it’s eliminating the requirement for PSN account linking in certain titles on their platform, including Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, God of War Ragnarok, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered (which was previously confirmed to require a PSN account). Now, players who want to play these games on PC will no longer need a PSN account.
For those who connect their accounts, they’ll receive complimentary, added in-game perks instead. In “The Last of Us Part 2,” this will entail an in-game Ellie skin styled after Naughty Dog’s upcoming space adventure title, “Intergalactic.” To see the full list of rewards for each game, check them out below.
It’s uncertain if Sony will adopt the same method for all future releases, but it would be desirable, considering the strong dislike most PC gamers have shown towards the PSN account linking requirements so far.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is set to debut on PC on January 30th, followed by The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered on April 3rd. Be sure to familiarize yourself with the system requirements and unique features tailored for each platform before diving in.
