Hamad Raza, who was connected with the heart-wrenching airplane accident in Washington D.C., disclosed the last message his spouse had sent to him prior to the incident.
As a lifestyle expert looking back on that fateful day of January 29th, I find myself reflecting upon the unfortunate incident involving American Eagle Flight 5342. This flight, carrying 60 passengers and four dedicated crew members, tragically collided mid-air with an army helicopter, ultimately resulting in a crash into the Potomac River.
Moments before the tragic accident close to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, Raza got a message from his wife who was on board the aircraft.
He informed WUSA that evening, “She had texted me to say they would be landing in twenty minutes.” However, the subsequent messages I sent didn’t go through, which made me suspect something was amiss.
He went on, expressing his hope that someone is rescuing her from the river at this very moment, “I’m fervently hoping for it, if you will.” Or, alternatively, “He continued, expressing his deepest wish that she is being saved from the river at this instant, ‘I’m earnestly hoping so.’
To date, a total of 28 bodies have been found, while approximately two dozen rescue teams are still searching for and identifying victims. However, this morning, Washington D.C. Fire Chief John Donnelly provided a heart-wrenching update.
During the press conference, as reported by NBC News, Donnelly stated that the team has moved from a rescue mission to a recovery mission. He explained that at this stage, it’s unlikely that anyone survived the accident.
On board the plane were, among others, some American figure skaters, as confirmed by U.S. Figure Skating’s announcement. Along with them were their coaches and relatives, who had been attending a training camp in Wichita.
According to a statement they shared, these sportspeople, trainers, and relatives were on their way home following the National Development Camp that coincided with the U.S. Figure Skating Championships. The organization expressed deep sadness over this heart-wrenching incident, keeping the families of the affected individuals in their thoughts.
American Airlines Flight carried along Russian figure skaters and their trainers, which included World champions Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov, among its passengers, as reported by various Russian news sources.
Today, Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesperson, shared unfortunate news during his regular press briefing. He expressed sympathy and condolences to the relatives and friends of the Russian citizens who tragically perished in the airplane accident.
Concerning the helicopter that collided, it’s been stated by Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser that a U.S. Army Black Hawk was the aircraft involved, and it had three individuals aboard. Not long after, President Donald Trump expressed his thoughts regarding the incident on Truth Social.
He expressed on January 29th that this seems to be an undesirable circumstance which perhaps could have been avoided. His exclamation was, “Not good!!!”
He stated on the 29th of January that it appears this situation should not have happened, and he emphasized his disappointment with “Not good!!!”.
And Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy has since agreed with the President’s assessment.
On January 30th, as reported by NBC News, Duffy stated that everything leading up to the incident seemed routine. However, it’s clear that something unusual occurred. To support the President’s statement, based on what I’ve observed so far, my belief is that this situation could have been prevented, indeed.
However, although numerous queries regarding the catastrophic crash persist, U.S. Senator Tim Kaine advises against speculating about the incident.
At a January 30th press conference, he expressed sympathy, gratitude, and inquiry, echoing the sentiments of many, towards the crew, passengers, soldiers, their families, friends, loved ones, those seeking information, and anyone worried about the fate of their loved ones. We extend our deepest sympathies to them all, mourning this tragic event.
Recognizing there are many unanswered questions, he stated, “Now isn’t the moment for guessing. It’s a period for investigating and finding solutions to our pressing inquiries. I am optimistic that we will uncover the truth.
