The pattern of unexpected Netflix releases persists! Over the past few weeks, some fantastic movies, such as Saturday Night, Scream VI, The Menu, and others, have mysteriously appeared on Netflix’s lineup without prior announcement. This trend continued during the early hours of Thursday morning, when the latest Tom Hanks film – and a significant reunion for Forrest Gump fans – unexpectedly joined Netflix’s streaming library in the U.S.
The movie we’re discussing goes by the title “Here“, and it hit the big screen towards the end of last year. This film marks a significant reunion for the Academy Award-winning “Forrest Gump” cast, as it brings Tom Hanks together with his co-star Robin Wright, writer Eric Roth, and director Robert Zemeckis once more.
In my view, this movie is remarkably distinctive, weaving a tale confined to a single locale yet traversing generational boundaries within its genre. The captivating narrative unfolds within the four walls of a living room, with the camera maintaining an unwavering vigil in the same spot throughout the duration of the film. The voyage commences well before a house is erected on that very land, and it continues to chronicle the lives of the family who eventually inhabit it, from their earliest days together until their final moments.
Hanks and Wright take on the roles of a couple who purchase a house and live out various stages of their lives within it. With the assistance of de-aging technology, they initially portray these characters as young adults. Over time, the story progresses, and through the magic of special effects, the actors appear older than their real-life ages by the end of the film.
Besides Hanks and Wright, the cast also includes Paul Bettany from WandaVision and Kelly Reilly known for her role in Yellowstone. This movie is adapted from a graphic novel penned by Richard McGuire.
