Good Omens Graphic Novel Update Amid Allegations Against Gaiman

According to recent news from the Terry Pratchett Estate, they’ve provided information regarding the Good Omens graphic novel, in light of the accusations against Neil Gaiman, as we approach what was initially planned as season 3 but will now be a final, standalone episode instead.

The classic work “Good Omens,” penned by Neil Gaiman and the late Terry Pratchett, is currently being transformed into a graphic novel. A successful Kickstarter campaign has amassed over £2 million to support this creative endeavor.

In response to the accusations of sexual misconduct by eight individuals, which Gaiman denies, Pratchett’s estate has issued a declaration stating that Gaiman will not receive any earnings stemming from the Kickstarter project for the graphic novel.

In the new arrangement, the management of the project, including its execution, communication, and everything related to Good Omens, continues to fall under the authority of the estate. However, it’s important to note that this change does not alter the core project itself fundamentally. What has changed is that the Kickstarter and PledgeManager will now be independently operated and financially tied to the Terry Pratchett Estate exclusively.

Additionally, it mentions that some levels include author merchandise and books. We’ve been developing a backend system that allows us to replace or modify certain rewards within the tiers if you decide to proceed with the project but prefer not to receive those particular items.

The conclusion expresses that “Good Omens, in every shape it takes, holds a unique significance for us, and we recognize that the terrain has changed for numerous enthusiasts. We acknowledge the delicacy surrounding this matter and will address all inquiries during the forthcoming weeks.

We’ll carry on our adventure with Crowley and Aziraphale, and in one way or another, we’ll see where this tale takes us. Thanks for joining us on this ride!

The declaration has been endorsed by The Terry Pratchett Estate (Headquarters of Good Omens), and you can find its entire content on the Good Omens graphic novel campaign webpage hosted by Kickstarter.

Last year, it was confirmed that the Good Omens TV series, featuring David Tennant and Michael Sheen, would conclude in a single 90-minute final episode, marking the departure of Gaiman from the show.

Gaiman played a part in crafting the final episode, but he won’t be participating in the actual production. His company, Blank Corporation, also won’t be part of it. Instead, another writer is anticipated to complete the project.

In the recent past, an extensive piece was shared by New York Magazine, shedding light on several accusations against Neil Gaiman. Among these claims were suggestions that he involved individuals in sexually aggressive and BDSM activities without their explicit agreement. Previously, a podcast by Tortoise Media had also brought forth similar allegations.

Following the release of the article, Gaiman quickly released a statement clarifying that he was remaining silent up until then, doing so out of respect for those sharing their stories and with an aim to avoid further spreading misinformation.

He went on saying, “While reading this new set of narratives, there are instances where I seem to vaguely recall them and instances where I don’t, accounts of events that apparently took place next to events that undoubtedly did not occur.

I may not be flawless, but I can assure you that I’ve never been involved in any form of sexual activity without consent. That has always been the case throughout my life.

In some instances, the accounts being shared are purely fictitious, while others have been twisted to such an extent that they no longer resemble truthful narratives.

I own up to any mistakes I’ve made. I won’t shy away from the truth, nor can I tolerate being misrepresented. I refuse to acknowledge actions that aren’t mine.

Gaiman’s full statement is published on his blog.
