Open World Cult Classic Sleeping Dogs Could Be Heading to the Big Screen

At Push Square Towers, we hold fond memories of Sleeping Dogs, a sentiment not unique to us alone.

For quite some time now, there’s been a strong desire for the 2012 action game based in Hong Kong’s criminal underworld to return in some fashion, and although another game sequel isn’t yet in sight, a movie adaptation might be in the works.

In response to a fan’s query about X, actor Simu Liu mentioned his efforts towards launching a film adaptation of Sleeping Dogs.

Simu Liu boasts an extensive background in cinema and television productions, though he has garnered the most recognition for his performances in “Kim’s Convenience,” “Barbie,” “Arthur the King,” and “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

The game Sleeping Dogs immerses you into the role of an undercover cop named Wei Shen, who’s tasked with infiltrating a powerful Chinese crime syndicate. With skills in martial arts and parkour, the game is highly praised for its vibrant open-world setting, engaging gameplay, and distinct leveling system.

If the movie adaptation sticks with the game’s plotline, it could surely become an engaging crime thriller. However, they might need to choose a different title since a film named “Sleeping Dogs” was already released last year. Let’s cross our fingers that the copyright holders cooperate and help Liu bring this project to life.

Hey there! As a huge fan, I can’t help but wonder aloud – wouldn’t it be fantastic if Sleeping Dogs were to become a movie? Let’s make some noise about it in the comments below!
