In a mere few weeks, we’ll be witnessing Season 4 of “The Righteous Gemstones,” and the trailer is ready to stir excitement among fans! This hilarious series is gearing up for its final chapter, and judging by the sneak peek, it’s going out in a blaze of glory. The upcoming episodes are packed with even more family drama within the televangelist clan, specifically focusing on the siblings’ power struggle since they took control from their father. However, it seems that the Gemstone family is restless due to their patriarch’s retirement. Tune in on Sunday, March 9th at 10 p.m. ET on HBO and Max to catch the premiere!
As a cinephile excitedly anticipating the last season, I’ve noticed that the latest trailer reveals the Gemstone siblings basking in their newfound liberty and donning vibrant, eye-catching ensembles. It’s clear that some existing storylines will be resolved while new ones unfold, but it seems this final chapter might delve into reminiscent tones as the kids grapple with life without their father, a sentiment hinted at by the official synopsis.
In simpler terms, “The Righteous Gemstones” series follows a renowned televangelist family known for their history of moral corruption, excessive wealth, and philanthropy. Despite their frequent disagreements, the bonds within the Gemstone clan are strong. This season, the family’s co-dependence is put to the test as they strive to progress while still clinging onto their rich past.
In the upcoming season, Danny McBride resumes his role as Jesse Gemstone, accompanied by Adam Devine portraying his brother Kelvin and Edi Patterson as their sister Judy. John Goodman takes on the character of their father Eli Gemstone. This year, we’ll also see Walton Goggins reprising his role as Baby Billy Freeman and Tony Cavalero returning as Keefe Chambers, among other principal cast members.
Last week, McBride revealed that The Righteous Gemstones will conclude with its fourth season. In a statement published by Variety, he stated, “I was told by the Lord himself that it’s time to bring this series to a close.” He added, “The storyline of this season has given depth and completion to the themes, ideas, and characters in The Righteous Gemstones. I have cherished every moment of collaborating with this talented team over the past eight years. The final season promises some amazing climaxes, surprises, and turns as we embark on this thrilling journey.
Some followers are disheartened because McBride had expressed before that he felt this series could last for numerous years. Back in 2019, he told Polygon that he intended to keep growing the Gemstone family and placing them into increasingly depraved scenarios as long as feasible. It’s uncertain if the comedian altered his viewpoint or encountered a hurdle he couldn’t surmount.
Regardless of the situation, “The Righteous Gemstones” has undoubtedly earned its status as a masterwork, with its final season set to bring the story to a close. The series debuts this Sunday, March 9th at 10 p.m. ET on HBO and Max, and you can catch up on past seasons right now on Max.
