We’re inching ever closer to the mass release of EA’s reboot of Skate, with the estimated 2025 launch date drawing near. Soon, skaters can expect to be performing tricks on ramps and cruising through the fictional city of San Vansterdam. Until now, specific details about the Early Access period have been scarce. However, developer Full Circle has recently disclosed some information about their highly anticipated free-to-play game, such as the platforms it will be available on, its features, and a more precise release window.
In a recent video, Full Circle’s Cuz Parry and Deran Chung responded to questions from the community. One viewer posed a straightforward query: “Will Early Access (in 2025) be accessible on both PC and consoles?” Although a simple affirmative answer would have been sufficient, Chung provided additional information about the platforms that will support the upcoming Skate Early Access, as well as some exciting features that players might appreciate.
“Yes, 100 percent,” Chung responds. “Crossplay, cross-progression on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC.”
As a gamer, I can’t explicitly tell you where the Skate Early Access will be available on PlayStation or Xbox, but since console playtesting is happening, it’s likely to be on the Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, and PS4 platforms.
As a passionate fan, I can’t help but wonder when we’ll get to explore more of the city and various spots in the upcoming game, Full Circle: Skate. Although they haven’t revealed much beyond what’s been showcased in the previously released footage, the team has hinted at the possibility of an Early Access release for us to delve deeper into this exciting urban landscape.
Chung explains, ‘The game is progressing, it’s true, and while we may seem to repeat ourselves at times, the city in our game is growing with each step we take.’ He continues, ‘We’re creating more videos and content for you. We’ve also begun console playtesting, and early access isn’t far off now.’
Presently, PC and console versions of the game are being playtested. This early access allows eager gamers a sneak peek at what Full Circle has been working on. Interested individuals can register for the test immediately, receiving invitations on a regular basis. Additionally, they mention that mobile playtesting is in development but not quite ready for public testing yet.
While we’ve managed to gather a bit more details about Skate, there remains an immense veil of secrecy regarding the free-to-play resurrection of this cherished skateboarding game. Besides the Early Access details provided earlier, it has yet to be disclosed which brands and skaters will make an appearance in the game. It’s worth mentioning that glimpses of in-game skaters wearing Vans Half Cabs, as well as boards from the Crailtap family, have surfaced.
Regarding skateboarding, one of the previews showcased professional skater Breana Geering as the final act. Moreover, Skate’s social media platforms have highlighted notable skaters and filmmakers like Allysha Le, Franky Villani, and Davonte Jolly within the community. It’s unclear whether any of these individuals will appear in Skate, but it would certainly be exciting if they did!
