Mandragora: Whispers of the Witch Tree – Soulslike Metroidvania on April 2025!

Knights Peak and Primal Game Studio, the creators behind Mandragora – an upcoming video game for both Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam, have recently revealed that they’ve renamed it to ‘Mandragora: Whispers of the Witch Tree.’ This new title will be available starting April 17, 2025.

According to Eugenio, the Publisher at Knights Peak, Mandragora was changed from its original name to “Whispers of the Witch Tree.

The fresh title isn’t simply an addition to what we already know; it gives us at Primal Game Studio and you, dear player, a chance to explore future ventures in this same universe. This way, players can easily identify our new projects while still maintaining the bond with the original intellectual property. We’re excited to embark on this journey into an enchanting new world alongside you, and Mandragora: Whispers of the Witch Tree marks that initial step.

Then Zoltan Zsuffa, the CEO of Primal Game Studio, added:

Our aim was to select a title that truly embodies our game’s spirit. The community has indicated that this game transcends being just another action RPG. ‘Mandragora: Whispers of the Witch Tree’ encompasses all aspects that players crave in a dark fantasy journey – mysteries, perils, and the ever-present question of what additional dangers may be lurking in the darkness. This new title signifies much more than just a name; it marks the start of something exceptional.

If you’re unfamiliar, Mandragora: Whispers of the Witch Tree is a 2.5D action role-playing game that was first announced in 2023. Originally slated for release in 2024, it has been pushed back to April 17, 2025. The game seeks to blend the ominous ambiance and challenging combat reminiscent of Soulslikes, with the extensive exploration typical of the Metroidvania sub-genre.

In a fantastical medieval realm threatened by the relentless force of decay called ‘Entropy,’ I find myself on an urgent journey to salvage what’s left of this world. As I tread through desolate ruins, battle grotesque beasts, and grapple with intricate moral dilemmas, each decision I make will significantly impact my own fate.

In Mandragora: Whispers of the Witch Tree, we’ve designed a robust character class system to assist players in conquering this challenging quest. This system allows players to choose from six distinct classes, each offering its own specialized talent trees boasting more than 200 active and passive upgrade skills for players to explore and refine their gaming approach.

Players should swiftly become proficient with these character classes because the game Mandragora: Whispers of the Witch Tree will challenge them with brutal enemies, 19 daunting mini-bosses, and an astounding 15 incredibly powerful bosses.

As I journey through this captivating game, I’ll be drawn into a chilling, melancholic narrative penned by Brian Mitsoda, creator of the legendary RPG Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines. I’ll also find myself engrossed in an atmospheric symphony crafted by Christos Antoniou from Septicflesh and brought to life by the prestigious Filmharmonic Orchestra of Prague.

Are you willing to step forth into a ruined world in hopes of saving what’s left?

Among fans of challenging Souls-like games like Dark Souls, Elden Ring, Lies of P, and Mandragora: Whispers of the Witch Tree has caught my attention. The visual style, which appears to be beautifully executed, is one factor. Additionally, the combat seems difficult, a characteristic that I appreciate. Lastly, the character class system with its varied skill trees looks promising.

Despite the release of numerous titles such as South of Midnight, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and others around the same time in 2025, will Mandragora: Whispers of the Witch Tree manage to distinguish itself from the competition and emerge as one of the top Xbox games and PC games of that year? Discover its fate later this spring when Mandragora: Whispers of the Witch Tree is set for release on April 17, 2025, available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam.
