PS5’s PlayStation Anniversary Themes Are Going Away

Sony has shared that they’ll be discontinuing the use of classic PlayStation themes (PS1, PS2, PS3, and PS4) on the PS5. However, due to a favorable reaction from users, Sony has expressed an interest in reintroducing these themes again.

Sony expresses gratitude for the wonderful reception of the limited-time PlayStation themes for PS1, PS2, PS3, and PS4. These themes will no longer be available tomorrow, but due to their popularity, they’re planning to refurbish them and return these unique designs in the upcoming months.

The company has also stated that there are currently no plans to make more themes in the future.

As a dedicated PlayStation fan, I’ve immersed myself in the nostalgic world of classic PlayStation gaming since early December. Sony, in honor of our beloved console’s 30th anniversary, has graciously provided us with these themes to recreate the visual and auditory magic of our cherished consoles from the past. Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or a newcomer to the PlayStation family, these themes offer a unique opportunity to revisit and relive the essence of gaming history.

In conjunction with these festivities, Sony unveiled a PlayStation-themed PS5 model back in November, boasting the iconic grey hue. The PS5 was offered in both Pro and Digital Edition versions, but supplies were quite scarce. Additionally, themed accessories such as DualSense controllers, the PlayStation Portal, and the upcoming PlayStation VR2 were also made available.
