Tom Hardy’s New Action Movie (From the Director of The Raid) Finally Gets an Update

The highly-anticipated action film titled “Havoc,” starring Tom Hardy, now has a projected launch period. Netflix announced that the movie will make its debut on their streaming platform sometime during the spring season. However, they haven’t specified an exact date yet. This information was disclosed as part of Netflix’s reveal of their complete 2025 lineup for movies and TV shows, which also included release dates for numerous other projects. “Havoc” is helmed by Gareth Evans, the director known for “The Raid.” This movie tells the story of a police detective who risks everything to rescue a politician’s son from a perilous situation.

Previously, XYZ Films, a key producer of the movie “Havoc”, unveiled initial snapshots from the production, featuring Hardy’s character in full swing. Here are those images for your viewing pleasure:

After finishing his role as Eddie Brock in “Venom: The Last Dance,” which was released last autumn and received mixed feedback while earning a total of $478.7 million globally (a low for the franchise), Tom Hardy’s planned adaptation of the Splinter Cell video game series has unfortunately been canceled.

Evans is most recognized for leading the two parts of the Raid franchise: 2011’s “The Raid: Redemption” and 2014’s “The Raid 2”. In 2020, the director expressed plans for a potential “Raid 3”, but as of now, it hasn’t progressed. Previously, Evans was slated to direct a solo Deathstroke film within the DC Extended Universe. However, Joe Manganiello mentioned that it wasn’t a top priority for Warner Bros.

Since its debut, “The Raid: Redemption” has earned itself a place among the all-time great action films, thanks to Evans crafting pulse-pounding sequences that keep viewers hooked. Considering his track record, it’s intriguing to see what innovative action he’ll bring to “Havoc”. Although the teasers don’t give away much, they do suggest a unique filmmaking approach brimming with the intense action audiences have come to associate with Evans. Hardy, familiar with this genre, seems perfectly suited for the role, and his portrayal of a rugged detective promises to showcase both his action prowess and dramatic talents. The idea of him taking on such a challenging part that demands a blend of action and drama is intriguing.

In the coming weeks, we might get a sneak peek of the first trailer for Netflix’s upcoming movie “Havoc,” featuring the dynamic duo of Evans and Hardy. It remains intriguing to contemplate whether Netflix will choose to exhibit “Havoc” in cinemas for a brief period. Given the immersive, awe-inspiring action found in the Raid films that truly shines on the big screen, it would be delightful if viewers could enjoy “Havoc” at the theater before streaming it from home.
