There’s a new onscreen family reunion in the works.
James Broderick, the eldest child among Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick’s three children, is set to act alongside his father in the February 20 episode of CBS’ series “Elsbeth.” This will be the first time the Brodericks have collaborated professionally. However, viewers should not anticipate a traditional father-son dynamic on screen.
In this upcoming season two episode of the “Good Wife” spinoff, Matthew, 62 years old, portrays Lawrence Grey, a morally questionable chief consultant at Outmatch Educational Consulting who is known for securing admission for Manhattan’s elite students into their preferred prep schools and colleges. When his position is threatened, Grey employs ruthless tactics, and his top trainer at the company, played by James’ character Clay, is tasked with cleaning up his boss’ mess.
James, 22 years old, is eager to step into this villainous role alongside his father. He shared his excitement about working together with People magazine on January 30, stating, “It was a true pleasure to work alongside my dad, who also happens to be my favorite actor! The entire experience of working on Elsbeth was exhilarating, and I am deeply grateful to the producers for providing me this opportunity.
Matthew, who is also parents to twin daughters Tabitha Hodge and Marion Loretta Elwell (aged 13), just like Sarah, expressed his pride and joy in collaborating with his son.
In the world of drama, James isn’t newcomer – he’s already made an appearance in Natalie Portman’s Apple TV+ thriller series ‘Lady in the Lake’, which premiered in 2024, while studying at Brown University. Interestingly, his role in ‘Elsbeth’ could be unique as it might be the first time he collaborates with a relative on screen.
Sarah made it clear that James Wilkie wouldn’t be featured in the sequel series “And Just Like That,” as she told TopMob News in October: “It’s not my call.
