`Hulu Drops Dragon Ball, Digimon & More Anime`

It appears that Hulu is set to eliminate several seasons of popular anime series like Dragon Ball, Digimon, and One Piece from its streaming service come February 2025. While there’s an abundance of anime content available across various platforms these days, it can be disheartening when services lose the rights to certain shows or decide not to renew contracts. This unfortunate turn of events means that fans who have been enjoying Toei Animation franchises on Hulu may find it more challenging to revisit their favorite episodes.

Earlier, it seemed like numerous Dragon Ball series might be leaving Hulu’s streaming platform due to expiration dates shown alongside their episodes. However, as of February 1st, it has indeed been confirmed that many Dragon Ball anime titles have disappeared from the service. This removal also encompasses a variety of Toei Animation franchises, along with several Digimon and One Piece seasons, which are no longer available for streaming. For a comprehensive list of removals, you can check below.

Hulu Removes Dragon Ball, Digimon, and More

Starting February 1st, the following Toei Animation series will no longer be available on or through Hulu:

  • Digimon Adventure
  • Digimon Adventure 02
  • Digimon Tamers
  • Digimon Frontier
  • Dragon Ball
  • Dragon Ball GT
  • Dragon Ball Super
  • One Piece Seasons 1,3,5,6,7,9,

This change might be disappointing to many fans who primarily rely on Hulu for their favorite anime, especially Dragon Ball and Digimon series. Although shows like Dragon Ball Z Kai, the ongoing Dragon Ball Daima, and the recent Digimon Adventure reboot are still available, a significant portion of the classic anime library for these franchises is affected. This loss is particularly substantial for Digimon fans, as the first four seasons are widely cherished by the franchise’s overall fanbase.

What’s Next for Dragon Ball and Digimon?

As a massive fan, I can’t contain my excitement as we approach the final episodes of “Dragon Ball Daima” airing throughout Winter 2025! The anime has been teasing its grand finale towards the end of February for its 40th anniversary project, but it remains unclear if there will be more projects after its conclusion. Given Dragon Ball’s immense popularity, I have high hopes that we’ll get to witness even more adventures in the future!

Speaking of Digimon, they’ve got something fresh brewing too! In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Digimon anime franchise, they are now developing a unique new anime project. Entitled “Digimon Adventure: Beyond,” this upcoming series will unfold after the incidents of “Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning” and reintroduce the original DigiDestined characters from the initial season in more mature designs than we’ve ever seen before. This new anime is slated to premiere this coming Spring during Digimon Con 2025.

Although revisiting old favorites on Hulu has become more challenging, there’s a silver lining – exciting new projects are on the horizon that you might want to keep tabs on in the near future. In the interim, don’t forget that Toei Animation’s collection is still available for streaming on Hulu.
