On July 29, 2015, Windows 10 was released as the successor to Windows 8.1 by Microsoft. After a decade, on October 14, 2025, Microsoft will discontinue support for Windows 10 PCs, meaning no more security fixes or updates through Windows Update. Although the software might still work after this date, access to Microsoft-certified assistance would require payment to their Extended Security Updates (ESU) system until October 2028.
