In Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, you can enjoy the game with controller support, making it compatible with handheld gaming devices such as the ASUS ROG Ally, Lenovo Legion Go, and Steam Deck. However, the way you experience the game can vary depending on the device you’re using. It’s recommended to tweak system settings for optimal performance and, in some cases, adjusting game settings may also be necessary to ensure an enjoyable gaming experience.

Best settings to play Kingdom Come: Deliverance II on gaming handhelds

On the ASUS ROG Ally and Lenovo Legion Go, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II appears stunningly beautiful. I didn’t encounter any screen tearing issues, but there was a minor hiccup in performance on the Legion Go. The game performs smoothly on standard settings for both devices, but you may wish to adjust some settings according to your personal preferences.

On the Steam Deck, the game exhibits a visually captivating display, but it’s crucial to adjust settings for optimal viewing. Regarding any handheld device, I strongly advise increasing the size of game text and subtitles beyond their default setting to ensure legibility.

Typically speaking, you won’t have to set a resolution higher than 1920 x 1080 while gaming, particularly on portable devices.

Experience with ASUS ROG Ally and Ally X:During my gaming sessions on the ROG Ally X using 25W Turbo Mode with a VRAM of 8GB (refer to our ROG Ally VRAM guide), I observed an average frame rate of around 23-30 frames per second. To conserve power, you might consider lowering it to 6GB. It’s worth noting that when the ROG Ally is plugged in, it can output 30W TDP. This means you can utilize this extra power for various purposes such as gaming in handheld mode or connecting it to a TV using a docking station.

Additionally, I recommend experimenting with AMD Fluid Motion Frames 2 (AFMF2) activated, which roughly doubled the frame rates, averaging around 46-60 frames per second (FPS), on my ASUS ROG Ally (check out our AFMF2 guide for more details). Keep in mind that if you use AFMF on the ROG Ally, ensure VSync is disabled to prevent interference with the frame generation technology. It’s worth mentioning that motion clarity was excellent on the ASUS handheld, and it should deliver similar results on the original ROG Ally as well.

Lenovo Legion Go: The game performs reasonably on Lenovo Legion Go, but not as smoothly as on ROG Ally because it doesn’t support Variable Refresh Rate (VRR). For an optimal gaming experience, I played in the Max TDP Performance Mode and boosted the VRAM to 8GB within the BIOS settings. However, you could lower it to 6GB to save power if desired.

If you’re unsure of how to modify your VRAM, follow these steps:

1. First, turn off your Legion Go device.
2. Next, press the Up Volume and Power buttons simultaneously. This should bring you to the BIOS Setup screen.
3. Navigate to More Settings > Configuration.
4. Look for UMA Frame Buffer Size and adjust the dropdown to 8G.
5. Save your settings and restart your device.

By setting up your Legion Go this way, I managed to achieve an average of around 25-27 frames per second (FPS). This isn’t quite at the 30 FPS standard for consoles, but it’s not too shabby either. However, more demanding sequences might cause a significant drop in FPS from time to time.

For those curious, AFMF isn’t compatible with Legion Go at this time, as Lenovo’s handheld device lacks native landscape support. However, this issue will be addressed in the upcoming version of Legion Go 2.

On Steam’s official site, the compatibility for Kingdom Come: Deliverance II on the Steam Deck is marked as “Undetermined.” However, it’s worth noting that the game does operate on Valve’s handheld device when the appropriate settings are adjusted. The game boasts impressive visuals and user-friendly controls. I managed to play it with only minor lag, and it generally ran at around 34-36 frames per second, although this might dip in areas with a high density of NPCs.

As a tech-savvy gamer, here are my recommended Kingdom Come: Deliverance II graphics settings for ROG Ally and Legion Go. Don’t forget to dive into the Advanced Graphics Settings menu and ensure all options are set to Medium or lower for optimal performance. Enjoy your gaming experience!

A fantastic medieval adventure for gaming handhelds
