The first trailer for the new Fantastic Four movie is almost ready for launch.
Even though there have been several earlier Fantastic Four movie series, The Fantastic Four: First Steps is Marvel Studios’ initial take, and it’s the first to be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. An online sneak peek hints that the official trailer for the film will be released tomorrow at 7AM ET – which is February 4, also known as “F4” day.

In the latest adaptation of Fantastic Four, actors Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach take on the roles of Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, and The Thing, respectively. Notably, Matt Shakman, recognized for his work on the popular Disney+ series WandaVision, has directed this film.
Here is the official synopsis for Marvel’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps:
As a die-hard cinema enthusiast, I’d rephrase that as:
Immerse yourself in a colorful, 60s-tinged, futuristic universe with Marvel Studios’ “The Fantastic Four: First Steps.” Meet Marvel’s original family – Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm/Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny Storm/Human Torch (Joseph Quinn) and Ben Grimm/The Thick-Skinned One (Ebon Moss-Bachrach). They’re about to tackle their toughest test yet. Straddling the line between heroism and familial ties, they strive to protect Earth from a ravenous cosmic deity called Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and his mysterious emissary, Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). The threat of Galactus consuming our planet isn’t just terrifying; it gets deeply personal.
The upcoming movie titled “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” is set to premiere in theaters on July 25th. Here’s the link shared by Marvel for the official trailer release…
The Most Anticipated Movies of 2025
Wolf Man
Title Release: January 17
Previously, Universal’s reboot of “The Wolf Man” (or “The Wolfman”) was a visually appealing but dull affair. Apologies to Rick Baker for his commendable effort. However, this new rendition boasts an edge – Leigh Whannell, the gifted screenwriter and director known for breathing life into traditional Universal monsters with contemporary fears and topics. In Whannell’s adaptation of “The Wolf Man,” Christopher Abbott delivers a chilling performance as the cursed character who undergoes a transformation following an encounter with a werewolf in the woods near his ancestral home. Given Whannell’s thoughtful approach to “The Invisible Man,” this basic synopsis likely hints at a more complex storyline than what meets the eye.
Dog Man
If you have elementary school-aged children, you’re likely familiar with “Dog Man,” the hilarious graphic novel series by renowned author Dav Pilkey, best known for his work on “Captain Underpants.” This series combines elements of science-fiction and superhero tales, all while keeping young readers (and their equally childish fathers) entertained with its offbeat humor. Remarkably, the books also manage to be surprisingly heartwarming at times. Capturing the unique tone of this series might seem challenging, but the trailer for the upcoming film seems to have done just that, as suggested by my two kids (and their equally childish father).
If you’re a parent with elementary school-aged kids, you probably know “Dog Man,” the funny graphic novel series by Dav Pilkey. It mixes science-fiction and superhero stories with gross-out humor, but it also has moments of sweetness. The film’s trailer looks like it got the series’ unique tone right, according to my kids (and their dad).
Captain America: Brave New World
2025 promises to be a more action-packed year for Marvel compared to their 2024 lineup which consisted of only one film, “Deadpool & Wolverine.” In contrast, they’ve got three films lined up in 2025. One of these is “Captain America: Brave New World,” the next installment in Phase Five of their cinematic universe. This movie has an exciting premise: It marks Anthony Mackie’s debut as the new Captain America, and it brings back several significant characters from “The Incredible Hulk” after a 15-year hiatus (Betty Ross and The Leader). Additionally, audiences will get to witness Harrison Ford transforming into the enraged titan, the Red Hulk.
Mickey 17
The release date for Bong Joon-ho’s highly anticipated sequel to “Parasite” has been changed several times by Warner Bros. Originally slated for last year in March, it was then rescheduled for January, followed by April, and is now set for March of this year. Fingers crossed that this date sticks! I’m eagerly looking forward to watching how Bong will spend his Oscar Best Picture winner windfall, with Robert Pattinson portraying a man in a dystopian future who consents to be repeatedly cloned upon death, only to encounter one of his duplicates.
The release date for the new movie by Bong Joon-ho, following “Parasite”, has been adjusted multiple times by Warner Bros. It was initially planned for March last year, then moved to January, April, and now it’s set for March this year. Let’s hope this date stays. I can’t wait to see how Bong will use his Oscar winnings for the film, starring Robert Pattinson as a man who gets cloned after death in a dystopian world, and encounters one of his copies.
Black Bag
Release Date: March 14
Steven Soderbergh, who previously collaborated with David Koepp on “Kimi” in 2022 and “Presence” in January, is back with another spy flick titled “Black Bag.” In this film, Cate Blanchett and Michael Fassbender portray a married couple of spies whose bond is put to the test when Blanchett’s character is falsely accused of treason. This movie seems like a modern take on “Mr. and Mrs. Smith,” but with a more polished and gritty feel. We’re definitely intrigued!
Sinners
In the timeframe between “Creed” and “Black Panther,” Ryan Coogler has helmed some of the most exceptional franchise films this century has seen. It’s exciting to see him venture into new territory, as he reunites with Michael B. Jordan for their fifth collaborative project together. Details about the storyline are still under wraps, but it’s known that “Sinners” was acquired by Warner Bros. following a heated bidding war among various studios. This intriguing period horror film is rumored to delve into vampire lore.
The Accountant 2
Title Announcement: Unveiled on April 25
After nearly a decade, the much-adored CPA with a lethal side — as well as the must-watch movie that graced our TNT Wednesday evenings — is making its grand return! Indeed, the long-awaited sequel to the irresistibly engrossing 2016 action thriller, “The Accountant,” has finally arrived. Ben Affleck reprises his role along with director Gavin O’Connor and co-stars Jon Bernthal, J.K. Simmons, and Cynthia Addai-Robinson. The narrative details? Frankly, they can wait! We’re confident that viewers will embrace it wholeheartedly. (Get ready for an abundance of accounting jokes!)
Lilo & Stitch
I understand if you’ve grown tired of Disney’s constant stream of live-action remakes, given some less-than-stellar productions we’ve seen recently. However, “Lilo & Stitch” might buck the trend. The story – an alien misfit lands on Earth and befriends a solitary Hawaiian girl – seems more suited to live-action than, for instance, a Bardian jungle tale featuring animated creatures. Moreover, Dean Fleischer Camp, who previously directed “Marcel the Shell With Shoes On,” helms this remake. Here’s hoping he infuses freshness and originality into the storyline. And let’s face it, Stitch is quite the rogue; his antics are always a delight!
Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning
Mission: Impossible 8 – Release Date: May 23
Tom Cruise is back once more to save the day, and potentially the entire summer movie season. The eighth installment of the Mission: Impossible series (originally intended as the second half of the seventh film) finds Ethan Hunt racing against time to prevent a worldwide disaster while executing some truly astounding stunts. The title implies this might be the end of the franchise, but considering Tom Cruise is now 62 years old, if this turns out to be another box office sensation, it’s safe to say “The Final Reckoning” won’t be the final chapter!
Karate Kid: Legends
In my perspective, if the upcoming release titled “Karate Kid: Legends” manages to deliver a less-than-stellar performance, it might end up giving me a hard time, considering how much I cherish the original Karate Kid series. However, when these films hit the mark, they truly shine. The concept of reviving the franchise with Ralph Macchio as the new Mr. Miyagi and Jackie Chan reprising his character from the 2010 remake is intriguing. The question remains: will this sequel reach the greatness of the original Karate Kid or the early seasons of Cobra Kai? If they manage to create it out of a deep love for the art, there’s a chance. The trailer promises some action that looks quite promising.
28 Years Later
Title Date: June 20th
The creative minds behind the 1996 film “28 Days Later,” specifically director Danny Boyle and writer Alex Garland, are returning with a new installment titled “28 Years Later.” Given the current global situation, it’s understandable that they’ve decided to release it slightly early (the original movie premiered in cinemas 23 years ago). The main cast includes Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Ralph Fiennes. However, there are rumors that the original franchise protagonist, Cillian Murphy, will make an appearance. Additionally, expect a horde of fast-moving zombies to keep you on edge! I can hardly wait to be scared out of my wits once more.
F1
As an uninitiated movie critic when it comes to Formula One racing, I must admit my excitement for the upcoming release on June 27th of the film simply titled “F1.” Known for his pulse-pounding direction in aerial combat sequences that catapulted “Top Gun: Maverick” above its predecessor, Joseph Kosinski is at the helm of this racing movie. With Brad Pitt donning the helmet as a seasoned driver returning from retirement to guide a promising newcomer, I can’t help but feel that this film might just be the next big thing in the world of action cinema.
Superman
Title Date: July 11
If you were hesitant about James Gunn, director of “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “The Suicide Squad,” creating an authentic Superman film, that fantastic recent trailer might have won you over. David Corenswet steps into the role of Superman, facing off against a new Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) and yearning for a new Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan). We’ve witnessed these characters on the big screen numerous times before — but we haven’t seen a movie featuring Krypto, the super dog, and he looks set to steal the show.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps
The month of July promises excitement for superhero movie enthusiasts as both Marvel and DC will unveil their latest adaptations of iconic franchises. Two weeks following the release of “Superman”, Marvel introduces its first MCU version of “Fantastic Four”. This star-studded cast includes Pedro Pascal as Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as the Thing. Interestingly, Marvel’s “First Steps” also delves into a slightly different genre, offering a period piece set in an alternate 1960s – reminiscent of the era that marked the beginning of the FF in Stan Lee and Jack Kirby’s original “Fantastic Four” comics.
Naked Gun
Title Date: August 1
Frankly, I hold no other comedy franchise in higher regard than “The Naked Gun,” the side-splitting police satires from David Zucker and the ZAZ team, starring Leslie Nielsen as the hapless detective Frank Drebin. The idea of a new take on this series, without any of those people involved, initially sounds unpromising – until you learn that this fresh version is directed by Akiva Schaffer from the Lonely Island and features Liam Neeson stepping into the shoes of the new Drebin. That’s when it starts to sound like a brilliant idea.
Wicked: For Good
Avatar: Fire and Ash
Title Date: December 19
Indeed, the next chapter in the Avatar saga is approaching! The third film in what could potentially be a series of five (or six, or ten, or forty?) Avatar movies will transport us to another part of Pandora and introduce a new Na’vi tribe, the “Ash People.” (Maybe Bruce Campbell will lend his motion capture skills to one of these characters.) As always, James Cameron, the writer and director, is expected to deliver breathtaking visuals, heart-pounding action, captivating characters, and, well, some rather extravagant typography.
Marty Supreme
In the year 2025, the Safdie brothers are set to release separate films after their successful 2019 comic thriller “Uncut Gems”. Benny Safdie will direct his first solo feature film titled “The Smashing Machine“, a biopic of MMA legend Mark Kerr starring Dwayne Johnson. Meanwhile, Josh Safdie has “Marty Supreme“, a movie featuring Timothée Chalamet as a ping pong champion. It looks like we’ll have two engaging Safdie sports movies in 2025 – quite an exciting prospect!
Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery
The third installment of the Benoit Blanc mystery series will be streaming on Netflix later in the year, but predicting the exact release date would require detective skills comparable to Sherlock Holmes himself. The ensemble cast features stars like Josh Brolin, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Josh O’Connor, Andrew Scott, Mila Kunis, and Glenn Close. As for the central mystery, it remains a secret for now, though the title hints at a song from U2’s “Pop” album. Could there be a murder in a disco this time around?
Frankenstein
In the realm of Netflix, anticipation is building for Guillermo del Toro’s long-awaited rendition of Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein.” Del Toro has been expressing his desire to bring this horror masterpiece to life for more than a decade, and it was Netflix that brought the project to fruition. Oscar Isaac assumes the role of Dr. Frankenstein, while Jacob Elordi, known from “Euphoria” and “Saltburn,” portrays the monster in what promises to be a spine-tingling adventure.
