FEATURE COMMENTARY WITH DIRECTOR/CO-WRITER LEIGH WHANNELL
What Is the New Wolf Man Movie About?
What if someone you loved became something else?
In a rephrased version: Christopher Abbott plays Blake, a San Francisco man who’s both husband and father, inherits his old rural Oregon home after his father disappears and is assumed dead. His marriage to Charlotte (Garner) is on the rocks, so he convinces her to take their daughter Ginger (Matlida Firth) to the property for a break from city life. However, upon arriving at the farmhouse late at night, they’re assaulted by an unknown beast and barricade themselves inside as it circles the house. As the night progresses, however, Blake starts acting peculiar, changing into something unsettling, forcing Charlotte to decide if the danger within their home is more dangerous than the peril outside.
Leigh Whannell, who co-wrote the script for movies like “Upgrade” and “The Invisible Man,” takes on the role of director. The producers are Jason Blum, known for “M3GAN 2.0,” and Ryan Gosling, famed for “The Fall Guy.” Executive producers include Whannell himself, Beatriz Sequeira from “Five Nights at Freddy’s,” Melanie Turner from “Sweet Tooth,” and Ken Kao from “The Nice Guys.”
