Experience the Adventure of a Lifetime: Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 – A Must-Play RPG Masterpiece

A star rating of 5 out of 5.

Arrowhead Game Studios, creators of Helldivers 2, follow the motto: “A game for everyone is a game for no one,” which perfectly resonates with Warhorse Studios, developers of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. Their relentless pursuit of perfection in gaming has resulted in an exceptional and distinctive experience that ranks among the best games I’ve ever played.

In my review of KCD2, I pointed out that there’s simply nothing comparable to it, with the exception of its outstanding predecessor. You can find my full thoughts in the video we’ve posted above, or on our YouTube channel – TopMob Gaming.

Back in the day, Kingdom Come: Deliverance snuck its way up to my top 10 favorite games. Now, with the arrival of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, it’s taken its place as number 11 – a spot that’s definitely earned!

From my perspective, if I were to describe it enticingly, envision The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind with the polished aesthetics and immersive narrative of Baldur’s Gate 3, coupled with the intricate mechanics of Deus Ex and Stalker. This captivating experience would be set in a historically-inspired yet not strictly historical 15th-century Kingdom of Bohemia.

To fully appreciate and critically evaluate Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, it’s recommended that you experience the original game first.

Following the end credits, I found myself reflecting on the numerous hours spent traversing adventures alongside character Henry, spanning over two games. The sheer magnitude of our shared journey left me feeling quite overwhelmed.

Experiencing Henry’s journey is akin to living an unforgettable odyssey, encompassing everything from gut-wrenching challenges to wild, exuberant celebrations, as he navigates through a realm engulfed by turmoil.

The two games are incredibly expansive, filled with countless intimate scenes involving numerous characters whose numbers swell even more in the follow-up. Their narratives are engaging, humorous, relatable, emotional, and poignant, offering a compelling blend of highs and lows.

In my journey, even the less prominent characters were skillfully crafted and developed. I found myself drawn to each of them, eager to engage in conversation and explore every side mission that crossed my path.

Ultimately, this game challenges you to scrutinize your intentions and face consequences for your decisions, as it offers numerous routes to explore.

In the world of RPGs, I’ve often found myself choosing between talking, intimidating, or fighting my way through challenges. However, King’s Bounty 2 takes things a step further by offering me the opportunity to navigate situations in ways that feel more akin to an immersive sim game. It’s like being in a rich, living world where every action and interaction has consequences, and there are numerous paths to success.

Exploring the captivating landscapes of Troskowitz and Kuttenberg areas offers a thrilling, vibrant experience brimming with mysteries, perils, awe, and moments that will be etched in memory forever.

Troskowitz serves as an excellent training ground, offering a chance to understand the intricacies of the game and its multifaceted rules. Despite being smaller and more secluded, it provides an adequate preparation for the Kuttenberg region.

Although Kuttenberg serves as the main draw, it’s interesting to note that several villages nearby are larger than any town in Troskowitz. This fact can be quite astonishing, particularly when considering the growing cast of characters dealing with the intricate politics among the nobility. However, you find yourself in Henry’s shoes, just as perplexed as he is.

Over time, you gradually get accustomed to navigating this unfamiliar and perilous territory. Reflecting on the petty disputes of Troskowitz (which can be revisited following the game’s completion), they now appear rather charming.

Traversing these regions, I found myself resembling a pampered historical wanderer, engrossed in the intricate details of the meticulously created medieval ambiance. Yet, what truly brings this setting to life are its inhabitants – the people.

Navigating through these territories, I felt more like an indulgent historic voyager, captivated by the countless minor aspects of the immaculately recreated medieval environment. However, it’s the populace who dwell within it that breathe life into this place.

In the initial game, Warhorse Studios faced criticism for a lack of diversity. However, it’s evident in the second installment that the creators have taken the feedback on board and made efforts to address this issue.

In both areas, there is a vibrant mix of various cultures that add authenticity and realism to the world, encompassing both positive and negative aspects.

Or:

Both regions are home to a rich tapestry of diverse populations, which contribute significantly to making the world seem more genuine in various ways.

Or:

In both places, you’ll discover an authentic blend of many cultures that make the world feel more convincing, with aspects that are right and others that are wrong.

It’s wonderful to observe characters from historical communities, some of which still exist today, but unfortunately, many of these groups, like the Romani people in Troskowitz, have been and continue to be marginalized and unfairly judged by many. A game like Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 aims for realism, and ignoring past and present struggles would be an injustice.

In playing King’s Court Duel 2 (KCD2), one might find oneself reflecting on the idea that “old habits die hard.” Although advancements in technology, law, and culture have been significant, at our core, human nature remains fundamentally unchanged.

By creating authentic backdrops, the story becomes more relatable, intensifying the emotional impact of the struggles faced by suppressed groups such as the oppressed, women, and peasants, while also amplifying the humor and warmth in the joyful moments.

The fascinating codex offers valuable context about 15th-century Bohemia and beyond, as well as showcasing beautiful Medieval artwork in its presentation.

I truly value the fact that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 doesn’t try to mask its identity as a video game. Given its grand scale, it’s understandable that there may be some unpolished aspects here and there.

In my opinion, Kuttenberg, despite its impressive appearance, sometimes appeared as if it were a movie set, due to numerous empty buildings and areas that seemed incongruous with the free-spirited ideals of the game.

In their codex, Warhorse Studios shares that certain areas were developed with future storyline elements in mind, but due to optimization needs and other factors, they needed to be structured as they currently appear. Since everything is visible to the player, these design choices become more understandable and acceptable.

Currently, let’s discuss a few points. Although the game is visually appealing and performs smoothly, I believe incorporating additional sophisticated graphic elements would greatly enhance the gaming experience.

Using hardware-based ray tracing for ambient occlusion could significantly improve visual quality, especially when CryEngine’s software approach fails to deliver in certain situations, such as characters appearing with bothersome glowing aspects in dimly lit environments.

In another phrasing, the game can be quite unsettling at times. It’s less explicit than Baldur’s Gate 3, but Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 appears to feature more brutal, head-crushing-with-a-mallet-and-eyes-popping-out scenes compared to its predecessor. The romantic element in the game is optional, however, the dialogue is well-written, but the intimate scenes aren’t always handled delicately.

Initially, I expressed my appreciation for the simplified battle system. However, once I grasped the concept of master strikes, I discovered it was relatively straightforward to exploit the system, making the challenge less engaging afterwards.

While it’s always good to explore different combat techniques, perfecting your master strokes will give you an edge over most opponents, except for a select few highly skilled sword-wielders.

It seems that your character is exceptionally skilled, managing to hold off larger groups without much trouble from flanking or swarming attacks. As an experienced gamer, you’ve only met defeat a few times in combat. Although there’s a Hardcore mode coming soon for added difficulty, I wish there was a way to experience that extra challenge right away.

At times, the AI in this game can be somewhat unpredictable and may not respond consistently to your actions. This is particularly noticeable when using a bow or crossbow from afar, as there might be instances where it seems like the wind was responsible for an NPC’s lack of reaction, even though an arrow appears to have been lodged in their neck, with no signs of them seeking you out.

As a dedicated gamer, let me tell you, there were a few tiny hiccups along the way, but they were nothing compared to the grand experience that is Kingdom Come: Deliverance. Just a few hours into my adventure, I knew this game was destined for a perfect score of five stars, and here we are, still immersed in its captivating world.

From my perspective, I strongly recommend that you don’t overlook playing Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and its predecessor. Skipping them could mean missing out on an unforgettable gaming experience.
